Any Swiftie worth their salt will have already delved into Taylor Swift’s latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department.” But did you know there’s a way to access even more exclusive content through Alexa?
Amazon recently rolled out a new feature that allows fans to listen to Taylor Swift’s commentary on the inspiration behind some of the tracks from “The Tortured Poets Department” and the only way to access it is through the Amazon Musci app or simply asking Alexa. There’s a key phrase, however, for you to access the content.
Hey Alexa, I’m a member of the Tortured Poets Department
Yes, in all seriousness, that is the phrase you need to say to Alexa and it doesn’t get any more Taylor Swift than that, in my opinion.
Once recognized, Alexa will exit and you will hear none other than Taylor herself welcoming you to the club. For any Swiftie, that opening light can be exciting but I’ll save the surprise for you to experience on your own. But if you’re too excited or don’t know an Alexa-enabled device, user @Frak.attack posted a video on TikTok showing what you can expect:
@frak.attack through this alexa feature taylor talks about the inspo for multiple songs on TTPD including fortnight, clara bow, florida, WAOLOM, & MBOBHFT #THETORTUREDPOETSDEPARTMENT #taylorswift #torturedpoetsdepartment #swifties #swifttok ♬ original sound – franki
Now as to what you’re unlocking, you can get access to Taylor-narrated commentaries on each of the tracks on her latest album. In her commentary on Fortnight, for example, Taylor shares that it’s a “song that exhibits a lot of common themes that run throughout this album.” She continues sharing more insights on the song and the album as a whole.
It’s important to note, however, that this content is exclusive to Amazon Music so make sure you’ve got that setup on whatever device your Alexa assistant is on.
This feature isn’t without its quirks, though, with some users reporting humorous mishaps with their Alexa devices mishearing the command, with one user shared how his Alexa thought he was looking for an “Eclectic Donut.” But despite technological hiccups, the additional content is an insightful look into Taylor’s creative process and allows fans to delve deeper into how she thinks, the meaning and themes behind her lyrics and album.
Beyond the commentary, listeners can even explore the album’s themes further by asking Alexa to define key words from “The Tortured Poets Department.” Plus, there’s a special introduction by Taylor herself when you ask Alexa to play the latest album.
Since its release, “The Tortured Poets Department” has shattered records left and right, becoming the first album to surpass 200 million streams in a single day. Taylor Swift continues to reign supreme in the realm of music, leaving Swifties everywhere eagerly anticipating what she’ll do next.
