All about the WashG1, Dyson’s first wet floor cleaner

-

Let’s be real — mopping is one dirty job. And it would be safe to say that it’s not anyone’s favorite chore, right? Wringing out a soggy mop, dealing with grimy water, and pushing dirt around is nobody’s idea of fun.

But leave it to Dyson to change that with the Dyson WashG1 — its first-ever wet floor cleaner.

What is the Dyson WashG1?

The Dyson WashG1 is a wet floor cleaner that tackles wet and dry debris in one pass. Think of it as the next-gen replacement for your mop and vacuum combo—except with none of the gross parts like wringing out mop heads or dumping dirty water.

Engineered to make floor cleaning easier and more efficient, the WashG1 uses a combination of hydration, absorption, and separation technologies to leave your floors squeaky clean. With two counter-rotating microfibre rollers and a precise water delivery system, it picks up spills, dust, and even stubborn dried stains more efficiently than your everyday mop.

And since this is Dyson, form meets function: it sports a minimalist, modern design with rollers at both the front and back for a longer cleaning path. It’s ideal for homes with large spaces too, as it can cover up to 290m² with its 1-liter clean water tank.

A Cleaner Way to Mop

One of the biggest pain points of mopping is dealing with dirty water, soggy mop heads, and general grime– but the Dyson WashG1 aims to fix that with its separation technology.

With it, the WashG1 can neatly divide dirty water and solid debris at the source. That means no more fishing out hair and dirt from a gross mop head or dumping murky water. Instead, the 0.8-liter dirty water tank collects everything in a hygienic way for easy disposal. When you’re done cleaning, the WashG1 also takes care of itself. Just activate its self-cleaning mode, and the rollers get a full rinse with fresh water.

This ensures that you’re not reusing dirty rollers the next time you clean. Plus, the microfibre rollers do most of the heavy lifting, absorbing spills and dirt with 64,800 filaments per cm², making it easier to avoid unnecessary contact with germs.

Despite it being a wet/dry cleaner, however, Dyson still recommends that the WashG1 be used in tandem with a regular vacuum cleaner.

It’s More Efficient, Too

Beyond hygiene, the Dyson WashG1 is built to make floor cleaning faster and more effective.

It boasts 26 hydration points that evenly distribute water across the rollers, ensuring that stains and spills are cleaned in one go. Whether you’re dealing with light dust or tough, dried-on grime, the WashG1 delivers the exact amount of water needed, thanks to its customizable hydration modes (low, medium, high). If a stain has hardened, for example, just switch to High so more water comes and the rollers work harder.

The rollers cover the entire width of the cleaner head, too, allowing it to clean from edge to edge and even in corners. With two motors powering each roller in opposite directions, the WashG1 glides smoothly over your floors, cleaning efficiently in both directions. You’ll spend less time mopping, and more time enjoying spotless floors.
