The instax Wide 400 is still fresh from its 2024 release, but Fujifilm wasted no time in following up with an exciting new addition to its lineup — and this time it’s finally a hybrid.
The instax Wide Evo is the company’s first-ever wide-format hybrid instant camera. Scheduled to launch in Japan on February 6, 2025, this new camera combines the charm of instant photography with the versatility of digital technology, offering users an elevated creative experience.
Much like its mini counterpart, the instax mini Evo, which became a global hit in 2021, the Wide Evo takes the hybrid instant camera experience to the next level. It also doubles as a smartphone printer, similar to Fujifilm’s popular instax mini Link 3. With a retro-inspired design and a host of new features, the Wide Evo is set to become a favorite among photography enthusiasts.
Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming instax Wide Evo.
All you need to know about the instax Wide Evo

Film Style Button
The Film Style Button allows users to cycle through six creative framing options, adding unique borders and effects to give your prints a distinctive, artistic flair straight out of the camera. These styles include:
- Normal
- Cinematic
- Date Stamp
- Collodion Process (a vintage photographic effect)
- Contact Sheet (resembling a film negative)

Wide Angle Switch
New on this camera is a wide-angle switch. The instax Wide Evo carries the widest lens (16mm) among all of the company’s cameras and the Evo lets you switch from your regular field of view to something even wider.
Degree Control Dial
n addition to the wide-angle switch, the instax Wide Evo introduces the Degree Control Dial, allowing users to fine-tune various lens effects. This dial lets you adjust the intensity of visual effects like exposure and color gradients. It works similarly to the exposure dial on the mini 99, but since the Wide Evo is a hybrid, you can preview the effects live on its 3.5-inch LCD screen before capturing the shot. This offers greater control, making it easier to achieve the exact look you’re going for.
Finally, the last two dials are the Film Effects Dial and the Lens Effects Dial which we’ve seen on the mini Evo.
For Film Effects, you get:
- Magenta
- Vivid
- Sepia
- Monochrome
- Light Leak
- Color Gradient
- Summer
- Retro
- Cool Tone
- Warm Tone
For Lens Effects:
- Normal
- Vignette
- Soft Glow
- Monochrome Blur
- Light Leak
- Light Prism
- Double Exposure
- Color Shift
- Color Gradient
- Beam Flare
And the fun thing about is that you can combine all these effects in many ways. instax claims that there are over 100,000 unique combinations possible for every photograph.
