Doom Eternal’s latest update is free and full of content

Doom Eternal’s newest update has arrived and it’s a big one! Update 6.66 is now available to all players at no extra cost and brings in the new arcade-style Horde Mode among other new additions including balance updates, new cosmetics, and more. Horde Mode pits other players against each other in a race to reach the top of the leaderboards. In this new mode, players start off with all perks, runes, and upgrades but are only armed with a mastered Combat Shotgun. They will have to defeat waves of enemies to proceed and will also unlock additional guns to use along the way. By completing all encounters and puzzles, players will also be able to unlock more than 7 new skins including Doom II Slayer and the Biker Slayer skin. Leaderboards will be seasonal and different difficulty levels will be available. A higher score can be attained by playing more difficult levels, completing bonus rounds, killing bounty demons, avoiding power weapons, and more. Additionally, this update refines Battlemode with an all-new streak-based Ranking system with rewards. Other new features include matchmaking, leaderboards, a new Arena, Stronghold, and a new playable demon character — Dread Knight. Finally, Update 6.66 also brings two new Master levels — Mars Core and The World Spear. You’ll need to own Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods – Part Two to unlock the latter, though. Both worlds offer a new combat experience as well. Check out the full release notes here if you’d like.
