BYD’s latest release isn’t much of a secret, as it was spotted by some local motoring media roaming the roads of the Metro. But BYD Philippines has officially announced that the Shark pickup EV is coming to the Philippines and that reservations are now open.

The BYD Shark 6 DMO is an electrified pickup truck designed to blend performance with sustainability.

Built on BYD’s Dual Mode Off-road (DMO) platform, it aims to offer versatility for both urban commutes and off-road adventures. The vehicle features a robust exterior with a muscular frame, providing a commanding presence on the road. Inside, it is expected to come equipped with modern amenities, including a sizable infotainment system and advanced driver assistance features.

While specific details for the Philippine market are yet to be released, the BYD Shark 6 DMO has been launched in other regions with the following specifications. It comes with a 1.5-liter turbocharged hybrid engine paired with dual electric motors, delivering a combined output of approximately 321 kW (430 hp) and 650 Nm of torque.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is recorded at 5.7 seconds. The electric-only range is up to 100 kilometers, with a combined range of up to 800 kilometers. It also boasts a braked towing capacity of 2,500 kg. Additionally, the Shark 6 DMO features an all-wheel-drive system, a 15.6-inch rotating infotainment screen, and various driving terrain modes such as Mud, Sand, and Snow.

While BYD Philippines has not officially announced the pricing for the Shark 6 DMO, reports suggest that it may be priced between PHP 2.4 million and PHP 2.7 million. Interested customers can reserve the BYD Shark 6 DMO by visiting their nearest BYD dealership or by signing up through the official BYD Cars Philippines website. As the official launch approaches in March 2025, more detailed information regarding specifications and pricing is expected to be released.
