CES 2024: LG’s 57-inch display is made for your car’s dashboard and is the largest in the world

-

LG Display shows off an array of groundbreaking automotive display solutions that promise to reshape the in-car experience at CES 2024.

At the forefront is the 57-inch Pillar-to-Pillar LCD, which claims the title of the world’s largest automotive display. This colossal screen spans the entire dashboard, from the driver’s seat to the front passenger’s seat, providing an immersive visual experience.

Recognized with a ‘CES 2024 Innovation Award,’ this display is not just big; it boasts high-definition picture quality, exceptional design, and the reliability needed for automotive applications.

Complementing this, LG Display has introduced the 32-inch Slidable OLED, a marvel hidden in the ceiling that extends downward to form a sizable interior screen. Its slim design, coupled with a maximum curvature of 30R, ensures space efficiency within the confines of a vehicle. Offering a QHD (2560×1440) resolution, this sliding OLED enhances immersion and responsiveness, making it versatile for various applications, including gaming and video conferences.

LG Display’s commitment to shaping the future of mobility is evident in the three concept cars on display – Shift, Evolution, and Beyond. These vehicles showcase automotive display solutions tailored to different stages of Software Defined Vehicles (SDVs). The emphasis is on “screenification,” indicating the increasing prominence of large and numerous displays within vehicles, facilitating control over a multitude of functions for drivers and passengers alike.

Noteworthy is the Ultra-large P-OLED P2P,  a fusion of a 12.3-inch P-OLED display cluster and a 34-inch P-OLED center fascia display. This integration forms a cohesive, expansive display that stretches across the dashboard, catering to the evolving demands of modern vehicle interfaces.

LG Display’s prowess extends beyond sheer size, incorporating advanced technologies such as P-OLED, ATO (Advanced Thin OLED), and LTPS LCD.

These technologies promise lightweight, flexible, and high-performance displays, ensuring a seamless integration of screens within the automotive environment. The Tandem OLED technology, in particular, stands out for its contribution to brighter screens, optimal stability, and extended lifespans.

Looking ahead, LG Display aims to solidify its position in the ultra-large automotive display market, with plans to establish a two-track production system. The company envisions mass production of automotive displays at its Paju plant after 2025, further emphasizing its commitment to innovation and quality.
