Honda has partnered with Twitch to become the exclusive automotive sponsor of Twitch Rivals, the popular esports tournament series.
What is Twitch Rivals and what does the partnership mean?
Twitch Rivals is an exciting series of competitive gaming tournaments officially sanctioned by Twitch. Popular streamers battle head-to-head in popular games in these events, vying for substantial prize pools. Whether organized as team-based contests or individual playoffs, Twitch Rivals offers a place for the gaming community to flex their skills.
Starting July 18, Honda and Twitch will launch a multi-episode segment called “Chat’s Civic Mods.” In this series, the Twitch Rivals community will have the chance to digitally customize the new 2025 Honda Civic hybrid sedan through interactive chat polls. This innovative approach allows viewers to directly influence the design of the car, making the experience both fun and engaging.
The final, crowd-sourced design will be unveiled at TwitchCon 2024 in San Diego, where one lucky Twitch community member will win the customized Civic hybrid.
Honda’s involvement in the gaming world is not new. For over ten years, the brand has partnered with major video game franchises like Forza, Guitar Hero Live, and Hearthstone Team Brawl.
In 2019, Honda expanded its footprint in esports by teaming up with Team Liquid, which now competes under the name Team Liquid Honda in the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS). This partnership with Twitch Rivals marks another significant step in Honda’s strategy to engage with the gaming community, particularly targeting the 18-34 age demographic that makes up a substantial portion of Twitch’s audience.
By integrating the customization of the 2025 Civic hybrid into Twitch Rivals, onda plans to introduce its fun and fuel-efficient vehicles, including the 2025 Honda Civic hybrid, to Gen Zennial gaming fans while reinforcing its presence in the community.
