DJI has just dropped some exciting news — DJI RS4 and RS4 Pro gimbals are now official!
Featuring next-gen features and improvements, these new models are now available for purchase, with the RS4 priced at US$549 and the RS4 Pro at US$869. The combo pack for the RS4 and the RS4 Pro, on the other hand, is priced at US$ 719 and US$1,099.
What’s New with the DJI RS4 Series?
The RS4 series brings a slew of enhancements to the table including 4th-gen RS stabilization algorithms which allow for better and faster balancing and well as smoother movement overall.
Both now also come with 2nd-Gen Native Vertical Shooting (first introduced on the DJI RS3 Mini) so you switch your shooting orientation on the fly — a must these days considering the popularity of vertical content.
Additionally, the Pro variant also comes with carbon fiber axis arms, offering a 20% boost in motor torque across all axes and also helping accommodate longer, heavier cinema cameras. The Pro model now also has two RSA ports this year and two focus motors that can be assigned as focus, zoom, or aperture motors.
Similar to its predecessors, the DJI RS4 is capable of a lighter 6.6 lb payload capacity, while its big brother, the RS4 Pro, can handle up to 10 lbs with ease. Both models feature a digital dial for on-the-fly adjustments and a Supercharge port for lightning-fast battery charging.
DJI also continues the theme of convenience on its devices with the addition of new features such as a one-button automated axis lock, a wider 1.8-inch OLED touch display, a Bluetooth shutter button, and more.
DJI Focus Pro
Alongside the announcement of its new gimbals, DJI also unveiled new Focus Pro lineup as an answer to more precise lens control.
This standalone system, starting at US$899, is comprised of the Focus Pro Motor, Focus Pro Grip, Focus Pro Hand Unit, and Focus Pro LiDar.
The heart of the system, however, is the Focus Pro LiDar module which attaches to your camera via a cold-shoe mount. Now improved, the module offers 76.800 ranging points, drastically improving its focusing speed and accuracy. DJI says that its Focus Pro LiDar module is smart as well with the ability to recognize objects such as humans and vehicles and track focus as needed.
With the DJI Focus Pro Grip, you can use the LiDAR modules independently from the RS4. It attaches to your camera and includes a 1.8-inch OLED display and focus wheel. With this grip, you should be able to see what the LiDAR camera picks up and control your focus from there. It can also store up to 15 lens data profiles and switch between Auto and Manual focus quite seamlessly.
