Everyone can now post to Instagram from desktop

It’s 2021, the year that Instagram finally allows uploading through desktop.

The company has been testing this service with select users through a beta launched in June. This week, the service will be rolling out publicly.

Initially, Instagram uploads could only be done through the app.

While this may not be an issue for most, having the flexibility to upload via its desktop website is a welcome addition, especially to users who prefer to edit their photos on more advanced apps like Lightroom or Premiere Pro or even social media managers who work with multiple platforms.

This will eliminate the need to transfer a photo or video to your phone or tablet before uploading it to Instagram.

Once you log in to your account on your browser, just click on the small ‘+’ icon on the upper right side to start uploading content.

You’ll have access to all the usual tools including filters and image adjustments and video trimming.

Additionally, 9to5mac reports that Instagram also launches a new “Collabs” feature that will allow more that people can be added as co-authors for Feed posts and Reels. Users can be invited to collaborate which can be done from the tagging screen on Instagram.

A non-profit feature is also underway that lets users instantly start a fundraiser via the plus button on the app.
