Hyundai Custin, Stargazer X launched in PH, priced

Hyundai Motor Philippines, Inc. (HMPH) reveals its fortified range of Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MPVs).

The brand maintains a solid presence in the said segment, with notable models in the past, such as the Starex and Grand Starex, and current models, namely the Staria and Stargazer, continues to add to its collection with the New Custin and Stargazer X.

“As a mobility solutions provider, our role is to constantly search for ways to cater to the potentials of the market. The MPV segment here in the country proves to be one, with its exponential growth over the years,” according to Mr. Dongwook Lee, President, HMPH. “Today, we present what luxury of movement is. Upgrades to our lineup were made so that our customers can have an even more exceptional MPV experience. We wish to ensure there is a Hyundai suited for every type of Filipino family, considering their lifestyle and must-haves.”

Exceed Expectations through The Stargazer X

After making its debut at the Gaiikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) in Jakarta, the bolder and sportier variant of the Hyundai Stargazer arrives in the Philippines.

The Stargazer X was developed to be more robust while still upholding advanced tech and space. Exceeding the expectations of those who value individuality and utility on equal scales.

The exterior flaunts a black roof with rails and a new 3D stacked front grille. Character lines have been added unto the engine hood and the bumper has been restyled.

The back has welcome additions as well starting with the rear spoiler extension and redesigned bumper. The Stargazer’s signature H-shaped tail lights have been surrounded with black lamp bezels giving them an even more distinct look.

Complementing these are the sills and wheel arch trims that have been incorporated on the sides plus a new set of 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The latter is not just for aesthetics but for improved ground clearance especially on bumpy roads.

Upon stepping inside, the X gives a more athletic and premium feel. It has been furnished with a new piano black dashboard panel, red stitching on the black seats and an updated overhead console lamp. Comfort is something that the Stargazer has always prioritized.

Having a total of 585 liters of space capacity with flexible 2nd and 3rd row seats, that can accommodate different hauling needs. Not to mention the longest wheelbase and body in its segment, so ample leg and headroom can be assured.

Since based on the Stargazer GLS premium variant, the X inherited all its best-in-class convenience and tech features. The same Remote Engine Start and Window Control, six (6) chargers, including a wireless one in the first row and thirty (30) storage solutions, including the nifty seatback table, can be expected.

To boost these further though, an Electronic Parking Brake with Autohold function has been integrated. This was made enabled by the replacement of brake drums to discs at the rear wheels. Moreover, a front parking distance warning is now present on top of other class-leading features under Hyundai SmartSense, the brand’s advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).

The X, will now be the top-of-the-line variant for the Stargazer and will retail for PhP 1,348,000.00. The three color options are Creamy White Pearl, Magnetic Silver Metallic, and Dragon Red Pearl.

Experience Exceptional with The New Custin

The newest nameplate introduced by the brand in the Philippine market, the second in the ASEAN, is in the form of a large MPV. The Custin is positioned to elevate the level of standards of a modern family carrier. Letting those who value the “luxuries of life” experience exceptional comfort, safety and technology.

Starting off with the exterior which embraces the brand’s Sensous Sportiness design concept. Fronted by the parametric diamond design grille with hidden daytime running lights.

Which is carried over to the sides unto the turn signal lamps, door handles and sill trims. Furthermore, it has special 18-inch dynamic blade aluminum alloy wheels. Behind, it showcases aircraft wing-like tail lights. Then the usual Hyundai emblem logo has been switched up to spelled out letters.

As for the interior, the inspiration came from one of the best forms of luxury, which is a private jet. It has a slimer “cockpit” and flatter floor so comfort can be maximized.

With an overall length of 4,950-mm and wheelbase of 3,055-mm, the Custin leads in space. The ground clearance of 170-mm also allows easier access for children and elderly passengers when alighting.

The top-of-the-line variant of the Custin comes with a 7-seat configuration that boasts of 2nd row captain chairs with a relaxation mode. Of which can be activated using the infotainment screen or the one touch buttons on its armrest. They also have a 10-way power seat adjustment, for the ideal “zero gravity” position, as well as ventilating and heating functions for an even more relaxed ride. Completing these are the dual sunroof, rear curtains, and backseat tables with tablet stand.

As for comfort and convenience, the Custin is equipped with a 10.4-inch large Infotainment System, that doubles as the surround and rearview monitor.

It also operates with a button type shift-by-wire transmission alongside an Electronic Parking Brake and Drive Mode selector. Wireless chargers in the 1st and 2nd rows are also available to ensure on-the-go connectivity, with Apple Car Play and Android Auto that come as standard.

Additionally, it has Smart Power Sliding doors for safer entry and exit of passengers, most particularly in tight parking spaces.

The New Custin is powered by a 1.5-liter turbo-charged Smartstream engine. Mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission, its maximum power output is 170ps and maximum torque of 253-nm. It employs a Continuous Variable Valve Duration (CVVD) technology, which better controls the valve opening and closing time, as well as an Integrated Thermal Management System (ITMS), which improves the warm-up and flow of coolant in each state of use.

These result to a more optimal engine performance and increase in fuel efficiency.

Hyundai SmartSense in the Custin includes Forward-Collision Avoidance (FCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) and Lane Following Assist (LFA), Blind-spot Collision Avoidance (BCA), Safe Exit Assist, High Beam Assist, Driver Attention Warning, Rear Cross-traffic Collision Avoidance Assist and Rear Occupant Alert. Apart from these ADAS features, there are four (4) drive modes. Comfort, which is the default, Sport, for a more spirited vehicle performance, Eco, for energy saving, and Smart, which automatically adjusts to either of the first three based on driving habits and conditions.

It has a starting price of PhP 1,770,000 and will come in 2 variants. The initial color options are Aurora Blue Pearl, Polar White and Military Gray Metallic. The GLS variant has a black monotone interior while the Premium one with gray.

The 6-seater Stargazer, previewed during the Manila International Auto Show last April of this year, as well as a 9-seater Staria were also showcased that day.

Despite the seat configurations being the only difference to the existing models, both were introduced to provide a wider selection that render a unique riding experience for customers and their passengers.

Complete specifications for the aforementioned models can be viewed at Hyundai Motor Philippines’ website.

All come with a 5-Year or 200,000-km (whichever comes first) warranty and are now officially available nationwide at any of the authorized Hyundai dealerships nationwide.
