Kia AutoLand Gwangmyeong set to be Korea’s first dedicated EV factory

-

Kia is driving into the future with a clear commitment to electrification and sustainability with the announcement of Kia AutoLand Gwangmyeong as soon-to-be Korea’s first dedicated Electric Vehicle (EV) factory.

This move inches the company closer to its goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2045.

It seems only fitting that Kia AutoLand Gwangmyeong claims the title seeing as it pioneered conveyor belt production in Korea in 1973. With plans to complete the EV factory’s redevelopment in the second quarter of this year, Kia aims to produce the EV3 — a compact electric crossover — contributing to the group’s goal of being a top-three global EV manufacturer by 2030.

For the Philippines, Kia’s electrified mobility is already making waves with the introduction of the Kia EV6 BEV in 2023. Packed with a 229-PS and 350-Nm motor, rear-wheel drive, and a 528-kilometer range on a single charge, the EV6 is designed to be a versatile and practical crossover. Not without premium features, it comes equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, Meridian Surround Sound, and advanced safety features.

At PhP 3,788,000, the Kia EV6 not only offers a premium electric driving experience but also comes with a 5-year, 160,000-km vehicle warranty and an 8-year, 160,000-km battery warranty for peace of mind.
