L’Oréal Philippines has taken a significant step towards empowering individuals in the beauty and social media entrepreneurship space with the successful conclusion of the first batch of the L’Oréal Digital Beauty Academy.

In collaboration with the local government of Quezon City, SPARK! Philippines, and TikTok, the academy has provided training and support to 259 residents of Quezon City, kickstarting their journey in the beauty and content creation industries.

The Digital Beauty Academy is a pioneering initiative by L’Oréal, designed to foster inclusion and provide opportunities for women and vulnerable individuals above the age of 18.

The program offers comprehensive training on beauty, digital content creation, social commerce platforms, and small business literacy. With a curriculum created by industry experts, the program covered essential aspects like beauty and personality development, content creation, earning as an affiliate and live streamer, and responsible content creation.

During the graduation ceremony at the Quezon City Hall, Yannick Raynaud, Country Managing Director of L’Oreal Philippines, and Hon. Mayor Joy Belmonte of Quezon City acknowledged the participants who successfully completed the program. They also recognized the Top 50 Awardees and Top 6 District Awardees who exhibited great potential in beauty and content creation.

Yannick Raynaud, Managing Director of L’Oréal Philippines, expressed the company’s commitment to using beauty education as a transformative force for inclusive communities and growth, particularly for women. He highlighted the importance of unlocking opportunities for Filipinos in the digital era, empowering them to express their authentic selves through online content while educating them about available earning opportunities.

Testimonials from graduates such as Wilson John Nual, a hairdresser, and Angela Ducusin, a BS Entrepreneurship student, showcased the positive impact of the program. They expressed gratitude for the learnings they gained and the newfound confidence to pursue their passions and careers in the beauty industry.

“I discovered the DBA from a friend, and when I joined, I experienced a lot of learnings and wonderful lessons from DBA,” says 40-year-old hairdresser John Nual, “I feel that I have value, and what I know has value. I now have the ability to show what I have learned and can add that to my expertise. Because of the DBA, I know I can still do more.” Nual is known in the community for doing hair and makeup during fiestas.

The successful pilot batch of the L’Oréal Digital Beauty Academy produced 259 graduates, who will continue to receive support through regular check-ins and coaching sessions from L’Oréal, SPARK Philippines, TikTok Philippines, and other partners.

TikTok also awarded the Top 50 Content Creators with free advertisement boosting to enhance their reach on the platform and potentially become brand and platform affiliates.

L’Oréal Philippines plans to expand the Digital Beauty Academy program to more cities in the Philippines to create a positive impact on the lives of more Filipinos. Through this initiative, L’Oréal aims to provide motivation, self-confidence, and opportunities for livelihood reintegration, empowering individuals to pursue fulfilling careers in the digital beauty landscape.
