Instagram’s new Guides feature initially focuses on wellness

Instagram is launching a new feature called Guides. This new addition will give content creators a space to curate and pool content from different sources in a single area. And in light of the current pandemic, the first set of Guides launched will focus on health and mental wellness.

Instagram describes Guides as “a way to more easily discover recommendations, tips, and other content from your favorite creators, public figures, organizations, and publishers on Instagram.”

This new feature can be found as a separate tab on your profile. It sits right in between the grid and tagged photo tabs. Guides acts like a playlist or a Pinterest board where creators can collate content about a certain topic from either themselves or other creators on Instagram. These can be in the form of photos, videos, or even galleries.

Additionally, content found in Guides will be linked to the original creators.

Guides can, of course, be shared via Instagram Stories or direct messaging. The company adds that it will also soon appear on the Explore tab.

At launch, Guides seems to be available to wellness-focused creators such as the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (@afspnational), Heads Together (@heads_together), Headspace (@headspace_aus), and a few more.
