Samsung teases Galaxy Z family for August debut

Samsung’s Unpacked event is just around the corner and Dr. TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile Communications at the company has shared some of the things we will be seeing.

In line with their one-liner teaser, “Get ready to unfold”, Samsung has confirmed that it will be unveiling the third generation of its foldable devices. In the release, Dr. TM Roh explains that the company has listened to its users and has provided better multitasking features and improved durability.

Roh also says that this new generation is intended to reach more people which may be a hint at more affordable pricing and wider availability.

“This past year, new technologies continued to reshape the way we live. Our collaboration with trusted industry partners allowed us to drive seamless experiences that offer more personalization and versatility than ever,” says Dr. TM Roh, “As we enter this new era of agile transformation, I believe that open ecosystems are the only way to accelerate innovation and give people more freedom to create their own experiences that are best for their lifestyles.”

At the event, expect to see a better, more durable Galaxy Z Fold that will supposedly open up new ways of creating content, working, and connecting with other people. Alongside it will be a new Galaxy Z Flip that, according to Samsung, will have a more “refined style, armed with more durable, stronger materials.”

“I firmly believe these devices will answer the call for the versatile mobile technology we need as we navigate the open road ahead,” says Roh.

In addition to the new generation of Galaxy foldable devices, Samsung will also be debuting a new S-pen designed specifically for this series. The company also confirms that it will not be announcing a new Note device just yet and will instead focus on expanding its new line.

Apart from the new devices, Samsung also details cooperating with Google to further widen the ecosystem of foldables. This was done to ensure that more apps will be able to fully utilize this unique form factor. Some of the apps mentioned include Google Duo, Youtube, and Microsoft Teams.

The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event will go live on August 11 10 PM. Those who register early can also get a PhP 2000 gift certificate from Samsung.
