Sony makes games free for download for its Play At Home program

In order to encourage staying at home and help flatten the curve and avoid spreading virus, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is introducing Play At Home — a program that offers free games and assists budding game developers push out new titles for everyone to enjoy and experience.

Let’s start with the exciting titles. Sony is kicking off this initiative by offering two games to download for free. This includes Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey which will be available through digital downloads from April 15 at 8PM PDT until May 5, 2020 at 8PM PDT.

The company mentions that once you redeem the mentioned games, they are yours to keep.

If you’re not familiar with the Nathan Drake Collection, it consists of three games namely, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Being confined at home, it would actually be great to explore different places and ruins for lost treasures. And yes, these will be remastered for PS4.

Journey, on the other hand, will treat you with amazing visuals and moving gameplay that accompany you on your adventures.

Then there’s creative funding for independent developers. Sony says it will help those who may be experiencing financial struggles fund their projects during these trying times. The company disclosed they were able to designate US$ 10 million for funding and support. More details regarding this were said to be made available soon.

With these efforts, Sony hopes to bring ‘much-needed entertainment’ to people and keep them staying safely at home.
