Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has officially launched the Next-Gen Toyota Tamaraw.
The vehicle was unveiled simultaneously across eight key locations nationwide, representing a strategic approach to meeting Filipino businesses’ and individuals’ evolving mobility needs.
The Toyota Tamaraw has long been an iconic nameplate for Filipino consumers, traditionally associated with reliability and durability. With the Next-Generation Tamaraw, TMP has reimagined this beloved vehicle for the modern era, creating a multi-purpose people and goods mover that seamlessly bridges business and personal transportation requirements.
Built on Toyota’s global IMV platform, the new Tamaraw retains the essential DNA of its predecessors while introducing cutting-edge features that address contemporary market demands.
During the launch, TMP President Masando Hashimoto highlighted the company’s customer-centric approach, emphasizing that their development process involved direct communication with potential customers to understand their specific needs and preferences. This strategy is evident in the vehicle’s design, which offers flexibility through multiple body styles and powertrain options.
The Next-Gen Toyota Tamaraw offers diesel and gas variants powered with diesel models featuring a 2.4L 2GD-FTV engine optimized for heavy-duty tasks. Gas variants come equipped with a reliable 2.0L 1TR-FE engine.
Toyota Motor Philippines has strategically positioned the Tamaraw to be accessible to Filipino consumers, with pricing starting at PhP 937,000 for the 2.4 Dropside DSL M/T LWB variant. The company plans to introduce even more affordable options, including a gas-powered variant expected to be priced below PhP 800,000.
The vehicle’s launch is particularly significant given the current market landscape. The commercial vehicle segment, which accounts for 73.64 percent of the market share according to the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, presents a substantial opportunity for the Next-Gen Tamaraw. TMP has further enhanced the vehicle’s appeal by offering comprehensive ownership experiences, including customizable insurance policies, service discount vouchers, and additional mobility solutions through Toyota Mobility Solutions Philippines (TMSPH).
