Nissan Philippines kicked off the next leg of Drive Pinas as it took its media partners on a trip to Zambales.
The drive was a showcase of local tourist destinations and the versatility of the Nissan Terra and Navara, as they were put through their paces in varying conditions consisting of expressway driving, winding roads, and offroading.
The drive began early in the morning of March 13, 2024 at Nissan North EDSA, where participants started their journey aboard 10 Nissan Terras and Navaras to head north along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX).
After a quick stop in Mangatarem, Pangasinan, the participants made their way towards the scenic Daang Kalikasan, a national highway connecting the provinces of Pangasinan and Zambales. Here, participants were treated to the spectacular sights of Pangasinan. With its various twists and turns, Daang Kalikasan is known for its picturesque views and surrounding landscape, being seen to be one of the most breathtaking roads in the country.
With Daang Kalikasan’s construction still ongoing, participants eventually reached the point where the pavement ended and Nissan’s 4×4 systems were put to the test.
Driving through the loose dirt and rough conditions from the unfinished roads, Nissan’s vehicles coped well to effortlessly aid the convoy in making it through the challenging terrain. Exiting into the province of Zambales, the convoy made its way to their final stop for the day at the Crystal Beach Resort in San Narciso, Zambales.
Upon arrival, a camping setup was prepared for the media to settle down after a long day filled with driving activities, immersing them in the natural environment of the beach-side resort. The setup was designed with Nissan’s push for more sustainable tourism practices in mind, with tents set up over the Nissan vehicles for the media to get their rest for the night.
The following morning, the media participants were challenged on another 4×4 adventure, where they drove on the sandy Crystal Beachfront and the lahar-covered Santo Tomas River Mouth to further explore the vehicles’ driving capabilities.
Following the activities, participants then headed back to the resort before beginning the journey back home to Manila.
“We are excited to continue on the next leg of our Drive Pinas campaign with this drive to Zambales,” says Nissan Philippines President Juan Manuel Hoyos. “This initiative has always been about exploration. It is a way for us to promote local tourism and showcase the many drivable destinations we have accessible to us, and today’s drive has definitely brought us to some of the most beautiful sights the country has to offer.”
