Genevieve Tiu, a well-known automotive journalist and video producer in the Philippines, has been named to the WWCOTY jury, according to a release from the Women’s World Car of the Year organization.
Tiu has been added to the panel of the WWCOTY, which currently includes 64 female automotive journalists from 46 different nations. This is the first time on record that the Philippines is represented on the esteemed jury.
In addition to honoring the year’s top vehicles, WWCOTY seeks to empower women and their voices in the automotive industry. The group was first founded in New Zealand by Sandy Myhre who is the current Honorary President. Just recently, the awarding body named the Ford Ranger as the Best 4×4 and Pick-up.
Since Gen grew up in a business that is active in the automotive aftermarket sector, she has been heavily involved in the industry.
As a result, she has experience in business development, working with automakers, public relations, media relations, and, of course, writing about the automotive industry as a respected motoring journalist.
Gen currently writes and produces content for CarGuide.PH, a local automotive website for news and reviews on vehicles. It is also the only Philippine-based online automotive newspaper with a full-time female writer on the staff as of the time of this release.
In addition, Gen has her own column, Drive and Doodles, for The Philippine STAR Wheels— one of the top newspapers in the country. The bi-weekly motoring section, which covers local and international motoring news for both automobiles and motorcycles, local event coverage, and in-depth stories, is regarded as one of the most active print-based periodicals.
