Fujifilm and Nintendo have just announced a new special edition smartphone printer that lets users transform Nintendo Switch screenshots into fun Instax prints. Based on the previous Instax Mini Link released in 2019, the companies also introduce a new accompanying app that users will need to bring their screenshots to life.
The collaboration will help celebrate an upcoming, highly-anticipated release from Nintendo, the new Pokémon Snap. With the premise of the Pokémon Snap centered on taking photos of wild Pokémon, the collaboration is pretty on the nose. Users will be able to download the new app that allows Ninetendo Switch owners to grap their screenshots on April 30.
The app also gives users some customization options including filters and frames featuring popular Nintendo Switch titles. The themed frames will include characters and art from Pokémon Snap, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Super Mario Odyssey. Transferring saved screenschots from the Switch can be done by scanning a QR code. The printer then prints them on Instax Mini-sized sheets.
In addition to the release of the app, the Mini Link Special Edition printer will also be available in a special Pokémon Snap-themed bundle that includes a custimized Pikachu silcone case for the printer. The bundle will be available in limited quantities only and will be released a couple of weeks after the Mini Link Special Edition launches.
The Mini Link Special Edition is expected to be available at retail in late April 2021 for US$ 99.95 while he bundle is expected to be available late May 2021 for US$ 119.95.
