Powered by the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU, this handheld gaming powerhouse features 8 Zen4 CPU cores and RDNA 3 graphics. If you’re familiar with the original ROG Ally, you’ll appreciate just how much of a leap this is. The new APU delivers smoother, more detailed visuals and frame rates that are noticeably crisper, making your gaming sessions more immersive than ever.

Additionally, the Ally X features enhanced cooling with a more advanced dual fan system and an extra exhaust vent, keeping things cooler and quieter during intense gaming sessions.

The battery has also been upgraded to a robust 80Wh, allowing for extended gaming without frequent recharges. With a redesigned chassis offering larger grip handles and improved button placement, along with a second USB-C port that includes Thunderbolt 4 compatibility, the Ally X ensures improved ergonomics and connectivity.

Display and Audio Upgrades

The ROG Ally X features a 7-inch Full HD 120Hz display that builds on the strengths of its predecessor.

The display continues to offer a sharp 1080p resolution but now includes FreeSync Premium technology to minimize screen tearing and stuttering, enhancing the overall smoothness of gameplay. The addition of Corning Gorilla Glass DXC provides extra durability and reduces glare, making it more resilient against scratches and visible in various lighting conditions.

For audio, the Ally X is equipped with dual front-firing speakers that utilize Smart Amp technology and also support Dolby Atmos.

Connectivity, Expandability, and Software Customization

The ROG Ally X offers improved connectivity and expandability options. It includes two USB Type-C ports: a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port and a USB 4 Type-C port with Thunderbolt 4 compatibility. This configuration supports faster data transfers and connections to external devices, including eGPUs, which can boost performance.

In terms of storage, the Ally X supports full-size M.2 2280 SSDs, allowing users to upgrade their storage capacity easily. This is a significant improvement over the previous model, which relied on a slower microSD card slot.
