ROG Phone 6 launched in PH, price and pre-order details released

ASUS Republic of Gamers Philippines has officially launched the newest iteration of its much-loved gaming phone, the ROG Phone 6.

Unveiled during an eSports convention over the weekend, the ROG Phone 6 series will be offering two models — the base ROG Phone 6 and the ROG Phone 6 Pro. While there’s no way to get your hands on a unit just yet, pre-orders are now being taken up until the end of August.

The ROG Phone 6 series is also expected to be available around that time.

With performance still its paramount priority, the ROG Phone 6 series is the first in the Philippines to carry the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor which will offer significant and noticeable upgrades in performance.  If you want to put a number on it, ASUS says that this year’s iteration performs 50% better than the ROG Phone 5.

The series also boasts higher CPU clock speeds up to 3.2 GHz and an upgraded Adreno 730 GPU this time around.

To manage internal temperatures, the ROG Phone 6 series offers the upgraded GameCool6 cooling system which provides a larger 3D Vapor Chamber and larger graphite sheets.

We’re also getting an upgraded AeroActive Cooler 6 fan accessory to further help in reducing the phone’s temperature.

RAM and storage configurations are similar to its predecessor offering up to 18GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage.

This year’s series also offers the same display size at 6.78-inches but now comes with a higher 165Hz variable refresh rate and 7299GHz touch sampling rate. Exclusive on the ROG Phone 6 Pro is ROG Vision, a secondary display found on the back of the device similar to the one from last year’s ROG Phone 5 Pro.

Further enhancing the overall experience with this phone is the GameFX dual speaker audio system. In collaboration with Dirac, the phone’s dual speakers are equipped to offer truly balanced stereo and sound effects. ASUS keeps the 3.5mm headphone jack as well but we do only have three microphones this time instead of four. Snapdragon Sound technology onboard also ensures super-low latency gaming and lossless music streaming.

Additionally, ASUS adds IPX4 splash resistance this year for a bit of durability. AirTrigger 6 also brings new actions like Dual Action Press and Lift for FPS sniping and Gyroscope Aiming.

On the camera front, we’re getting fewer megapixels but a bigger sensor. On the ROG Phone 6 series is a dual camera system consisting of a 50-megapixel main boasting a Sony IMX766 sensor partnered with a 13-megapixel ultra-wide. The selfie camera receives no upgrades however and remains a 12-megapixel shooter with a Sony IMX633 sensor.

The battery also stays the same at 6000mAh with 65W HyperCharge support.

As mentioned earlier, ASUS is releasing the new AeroActive Cooler 6 but in addition to that, the new ROG Kunai 3 gamepad has also been announced and comes ina new Moonlight White color.
