It’s CES season once again and news is starting to pour out on all things tech. Coming out of the gate with a very intriguing offer, Samsung has unveiled its ViewFinity 5K monitor, the latest in the range, with rather impressive specs and capabilities obviously meant to rival Apple’s Studio Display.
Offering a 5120 x 2880 resolution, the new 27-inch Samsung ViewFinity S9 comes in as the company’s most pixel-heavy display. It’s obviously built for creatives and multimedia users since it comes with essential trimmings such as 99% DCI-P3 color for true-to-life accuracy.
The display also offers a Smart Calibration feature that utilizes your smartphone and Samsung’s companion app to recalibrate the monitor at any time should you need to. Additional specs include support for HDR600, an array of ports including a USB-C port with Power Delivery charging up to 96W.
While most of the essential features are identical to the Studio Display, Samsung’s ViewFinity S9 does have two things that give it an edge: a matte display and a built-in 4K webcam that can keep track and zoom to keep the subject in the frame. The ViewFinity S9 also has slimmer bezels all around and can be rotated from landscape to portrait. Samsung also injected its Tizen TV OS for easy access to all the usual streaming apps.
As expected, however, pricing and availability have yet to be announced but Samsung says that it should be available in early 2023.
