Short films from Samsung’s Untold Stories at Night festival now available to watch online

Samsung celebrated Filipino filmmakers at the first-ever Untold Stories at Night, a festival that screened short films shot using the Galaxy S22 Ultra, last June 17, 2022, at the BGC Arts Center in Taguig.

Samsung tapped five of the country’s top directors and #TeamGalaxy Ambassadors to create original short films, which ranged from romance to science fiction.

The beautiful island recovers from the typhoon, bringing life and nightlife back to the town. Sinag tells the story of Rafael, who dreams of performing in his town’s only bar. He decides to defy all rules and performs against all odds. The film is directed by Noel Escondo and Tristan Cua of Mobile Filmmaking Philippines, a community of filmmakers.

In Mikhael Red’s Lumina, the titular character is a young girl who books a ride to another galaxy when she is pursued by darkness.

Lastly, Samantha Lee’s It was a love story (after all) that follows star-crossed lovers who get a second chance at love under mysterious circumstances.

The premiere was attended by members of the media and #TeamGalaxy Ambassadors such as photographer BJ Pascual, host and beauty queen Erika Kristensen, Director Gino Santos, and model LA Aguinaldo. Guests were given the opportunity to experience first-hand the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s Nightography features.

Samsung broke the rules of content creation with Nightography, which brings in more light, motion, and detail, even in low-light situations.

This technology, along with the other innovative features of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, allows aspiring filmmakers to create movie magic with just a smartphone.

“Untold Stories at Night celebrates the talent of our Team Galaxy filmmakers, as well as the innovations we have made in mobile filmmaking technology. We hope that these films encourage others to pursue their dreams of filmmaking. It’s now possible to shoot short films without professional equipment. All you need is a smartphone with a powerful and cutting-edge camera,” shares Marlene Cinco-Caballes, Samsung’s Head of Corporate Marketing.

Besides Nightography, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is powered by a pro-grade camera perfect for shooting short films. The 108MP Wide-Angle lens takes high-resolution videos with an expanded view of the scenery. Its Dual pixel sensor makes content brighter and clearer.

This is complemented by the 12MP Ultra-Wide camera, a useful tool for outdoor scenes since it expands the scenery even further. The 10MP Telephoto lenses with 3x Optical Zoom and 10x Optical Zoom bring cityscapes and other faraway subjects closer.

Directors who wish to experiment with their content may try the 40MP Front camera. Plus, filmmakers can truly geek out on pro-levels of detail in every frame with Super HDR, delivering video that drips with over 64x more color, even with tricky shadows or backlit scenes.
