Skip the microwave with SunnySide solar-powered lunchbox

Nothing beats a good hot meal and with SunnySide, you can get that anywhere you are.

Meet the world’s first solar-powered lunchbox, SunnySide. At first glance, it pretty much looks like your average bento box but it’s equipped with two 12v solar panels that charge the built-in battery which then heats up (or cools) your meal. Alternatively, you can still charge it via USB-C.

There are three fans within the device and a thick layer of insulation. According to the company, the lunchbox is able to keep food fresh for up to 20 hours and heating only takes a couple of seconds. There’s also an accompanying app where you can set the temperature of your lunchbox, track your nutrition levels, check calories, and even find new recipes that are designed to fit into the lunchbox. Temperature controls are also available on the device itself.

Additionally, SunnySide is dishwasher-safe for easy clean-ups and it can also act as a 10,000mAh power bank that can charge other devices. Because why not let your lunchbox charge your phone, right?

For colors, we also have a good selection. There are 5 available: Blue, Coral, Pink, White, and Green.

“SunnySide was born out of my desire to not eat flavorless microwaved meals,” said Michael, Founder of SunnySide, “After reviewing the market I couldn’t find a lunchbox which addressed all the lunch issues I encountered, like when I work from the park and want to keep my sandwiches and veggies chilled or to heat the food cordless, so this inspired me to come up with this innovation.”

The project is already live on Kickstarter. As of writing, the Father’s Day special is still available where you can get the SunnySide solar-powered lunchbox for just US$69 (approx. PhP 3,267), that’s 45% off its expected US$125 (approx. PhP 6,806) retail price. Regular contributions start at US$95 (approx. PhP 5,174) for one SunnySide lunchbox and come with free utensils, carry bag, and divider.

Skip the microwave at work, head out and have lunch at the park, or have a picnic on the weekend — either way, SunnySide assures you’re getting a nice hot and comforting meal.
