The iPhone 13 is hitting local stores this week but is it really the best time to buy?
If you’re not too excited to get your hands on Apple’s latest, a study by iPrice has shown that you could save over PhP 6,000 if you’re willing to wait a couple of months.
Based on the iPhone’s past sales and price patterns, iPrice’s research predicts that the iPhone 13 could have a 12% decrease in price in 6 months and 13% in a year’s time.
To get a clearer number, you can save about PhP 6,959 if you wait to purchase around April, 6 months from now, or save PhP 7,539 if you wait a whole year.
But with technology changing almost every day, is it really worth the wait?
In 6 months, the iPhone 13, whichever model you’ll be getting, should still be very much relevant and very much in-demand. With a PhP 580 price difference between waiting one year and six months, you’re probably better off getting it earlier unless you need to hold on to that PhP 580.
Data from Numbeo, which is the world’s largest cost of living database, says that the average salary of Filipinos after tax is about PhP 15, 063 per month which may make it hard for most to reach the PhP 50,990 price tag of the 128GB iPhone 13 base model.
And if not having the latest at launch isn’t an issue, waiting a couple of months to save a few thousands is probably the wiser, more practical choice.
Apple’s iPhone 13 is the latest offering in the company’s portfolio and boasts of having the fastest processor around. Coupled with the iPhone’s signature high-quality and full-featured cameras, the iPhone 13 series also offers better battery life and, for the first time ever on an Apple phone, a display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
