vivo Philippines has officially unveiled in the country its new V20 series. In addition to the V20 and V20 Pro, what we have here is the most affordable from the bunch — the V20 SE. Priced at just PhP 15,999, let’s take a look at what it offers as well as what comes with the package in this unboxing and hands-on.
We’re greeted with this interesting box that’s undeniably a vivo device due to its color. Opening it reveals a smaller box that contains the SIM ejector tools and bundled jelly case to protect the device from scratches and drops.
Digging deeper in the box reveals the phone itself and right under it are the included accessories. We have earphones that connect via a 3.5mm audio jack, a USB-C cable for charging and file transfers, and a power brick that supports fast charging.
For its physique, the volume rocker is at the right side lined up along the power/lock button. The left is devoid of any buttons since the dual-SIM tray with microSD slot is situated up top.
Meanwhile, the 3.5mm audio jack, USB-C port, and speaker grille are all found at the bottom.
Now that we’re familiar with the contents of the box, let’s go to the device itself. The vivo V20 SE sports a 6.44-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080. It’s got a 20:9 aspect ratio so it’s friendly for landscape usage when gaming or watching videos.
It sports a 60Hz refresh rate for its screen meaning icons and transitions produce smoother movement when browsing or scrolling. The phone also employs an under-display fingerprint sensor and not the usual scanner seen on the side of the phone together with the power button.
Its back panel makes things interesting. Although it mainly has a light blue color, having a light source hit the surface reveals a yellow glow. This positively breaks the all-blue hue of the rear panel making it stylish and pleasant to look at.
At the upper left corner resides the camera tray consisting of three lenses. The V20 SE carries a 48-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide shooter, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor for achieving bokeh on portrait shots. Here are some sample shots:
On the flip side, a selfie camera is housed inside the waterdrop notch in the middle. It carries a 32-megapixel front-facing lens armed with beautification effects, filters, and even a bokeh effect.
Inside, an octa-core Snapdragon 665 powers the device and is accompanied by 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. If you demand more storage, you can always go for an additional microSD.
The battery department is handled by a 4100mAh pack and as mentioned earlier, it supports fast charging rated at 33 watts. The V20 SE runs on Android 11 and brings a number of features to the UI for faster and more efficient navigation.
The vivo V20 SE is available in Oxygen Blue and Gravity Black. We’re preparing a full review for this device so if you have any questions or anything you specifically want to know about this smartphone, simply chime in the comments section!
