If you already own Grand Theft Auto V on PC, upgrading to the new version is simple. Just head to your preferred platform — Rockstar Games Launcher, Steam, or Epic Games — and download the update at no additional cost. Your Story Mode and GTA Online progress will carry over seamlessly, so you can continue right where you left off.
What’s New in the Upgraded Version
This update introduces a range of enhancements and new features, previously only available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|
- Hao’s Special Works (HSW): Access new high-performance vehicle upgrades, test out Premium Test Rides, and compete in HSW Races and Time Trials.
- Wildlife Encounters: Experience a more immersive world with ambient animals appearing throughout Southern San Andreas. Take part in the daily Wildlife Photography Challenge for in-game rewards.
- GTA+ Membership: PC players can now subscribe to GTA+ for exclusive benefits, including monthly GTA$500,000 deposits, member-only vehicles, and special perks at The Vinewood Club.

Technical Enhancements for PC
The upgrade also improves the technical performance of GTAV on PC, including:
- Ray-traced ambient occlusion, global illumination, shadows, and reflections.
- Support for AMD FSR1, FSR3, and NVIDIA DLSS 3.
- Faster loading times with SSD and DirectStorage support.
- Enhanced support for higher resolutions, aspect ratios, and frame rates.
- DualSense controller compatibility, including adaptive trigger support.
- Enhanced audio with Dolby Atmos support and improved speech, music, and cinematics quality.
Both the upgraded and original versions of GTA Online remain available on PC. However, players using the upgraded version will not be able to join sessions with those on the older version. To play together, make sure all players are using the same edition of the game.
