VST ECS brings TCL Mobile in PH, intros TCL 10 5G and TCL 20 SE

Armed with a goal to re-enter and compete in the local mobile phone arena, TCL Philippines sealed its partnership with VST ECS Phils. Inc – one of the leading ICT distribution companies in the country – to bring a new wave and vast range of affordable TCL smartphones, tablets, and audio devices to the Filipino market.

The appointment ceremony of the latter as the former’s official and exclusive distributor of mobile products in the Philippines took place on April 15 during the virtual TCL Mobile Media Briefing, attended by both companies’ executive management and media partners.

“We are delighted to include TCL Mobile to our fold of impressive product portfolio. This addition solidifies our commitment to offer end-to-end solutions for practically all verticals and provide new growth opportunities for our channel partners.

And as one of the pioneers in intelligent technology, I am confident that TCL will gain positive traction having been known to deliver some of the industry’s firsts such as QLED, Mini LED, THX Certified Gaming TV, to name few. We hope to raise the bar in mobile entertainment by offering products that combine innovation and affordability,” says Jimmy D. Go, president and CEO, VSTECS Phils. Inc.

Through this partnership, Filipino consumers can avail TCL smartphones and other peripheral products – including tablets and wireless earbuds – in all accredited and authorized VST ECS stores nationwide starting April 2021.

TCL 10 5G

In line with this, TCL Philippines is officially debuting one of its latest TCL-branded smartphone: the TCL 10 5G. This premium, yet affordable Android device will leverage the company’s self-curated visual technology called NXTVISION. This mobile phone is also a 5G-capable model, with improved imaging, and refined battery life.

Embodying the company’s mission to “Display Greatness,” the latest smartphone takes advantage of TCL’s tightly integrated ecosystem by using TCL-built screens and TCL NXTVISION, a proprietary advanced display, and camera visual technology. TCL’s advanced display generates cutting-edge color accuracy, making it indefectible to notice the difference between real-life and screen images.

The TCL 10 5G comes with a large, modern 6.53-inch FHD+ Dotch display, providing an impressive 91 percent screen-to-body ratio.

The company’s first 5G-enabled smartphone, the TCL 10 5G, is designed to bring the benefits of 5G connectivity to consumers looking for something modern and affordable. Powered by the Snapdragon 765G 5G Mobile Platform with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X52 5G Modem-RF System, the TCL 10 5G supports increased data bandwidth for faster uploads, downloads, and upgraded Wi-Fi connection.

On the back, the TCL 10 5G sports a quad-camera setup that includes a 64MP high-resolution main camera, a 118-degree ultra-wide-angle camera, a macro camera that lets users take super close-up shots at only 2cm away, and a depth camera for professional quality photos with Bokeh.

The TCL 10 5G’s front-facing 16MP camera ups the selfie game with its 4-in-1 big pixel technology that automatically combines four pixels into one to produce brighter selfie photos and improve low-light capabilities.

Additionally, the TCL 10 5G comes with a large battery boasting a full day of phone use and Quick Qualcomm Charge 3.0 fast charging technology. It also features On-the-Go Reverse Charging, turning the phone into a portable power bank to charge smaller devices or help a friend in need if their device is low on battery. The TCL 10 5G will be available across multiple store outlets in the Philippines starting April 2021.

TCL 20 SE

The TCL 20 SE was unveiled last January at the CES 2021 press conference. Now, its Philippine debut has finally come. This smartphone blends a nature-inspired design with exceptional performance and affordability, offering an upgrade to handle the needs of today’s consumer, with improved imaging, solid performance, and longer battery life.

It features the latest TCL-made display and the next generation of NXTVISION, TCL’s proprietary advanced display optimization, and camera technology. NXTVISION provides users with improvements to the video and image display experience, including improved SDR to HDR conversion, enhanced color calibration, and more eye safety features.

This new phone has all the features associated with an advanced smartphone, along with a superior video entertainment system for those looking to take their A/V experiences to the next level.

Stunning video performance is delivered via a 6.82-inch, V notch display with a 90 percent screen-to-body ratio for a maximized viewing experience, along with a 20.5:9 screen ratio which provides broad, cinematic-like viewing performance in a slim form.

To take further advantage of the large display, the TCL 20 SE also features a Smart Floating Window, which lets users browse the web or reply to messages while watching videos; the feature is triggered by swiping to the right or left corner and can be adjusted in size or move about anywhere on the screen.

The TCL 20 SE also provides outstanding video playback through SDR-to-HDR technology. Thanks to NXTVISION technology, color, contrast, and clarity are all enhanced while videos are being enjoyed in real-time. The smartphone’s dual speaker design also improves the audio experience—no speakers are blocked when the device is hand-held—and it is also compatible with Hi-Res Audio certification.

To power all these features, the TCL 20 SE has a Qualcomm octa-core chipset and a 5,000mAh battery. It also comes with an OTG Reverse Charging capability, making it possible to top up the battery of smaller gadgets.

While maximized video entertainment and power are the foundations of the TCL 20 SE, the device’s quad rear camera comes with AI-powered color portrait and sky enhancement features, which are designed to automatically detect the intended subjects and adjust the background for more epic shots. Additionally, the new AI Object Eraser can clear out people or objects in the background.

The TCL 20 SE will be available this April 2021 in Nuit Black and Aurora Green across multiple store outlets in the Philippines.

TCL Multi-Screen Collaboration

As another benefit of TCL’s deep vertically integrated ecosystem, the company will introduce its upcoming multi-screen collaboration efforts between select TCL 20 Series smartphones, tablets, televisions, and PCs at CES 2021.

Through simple wireless connections like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or NFC, TCL will make it possible to seamlessly transfer files and multimedia from one device to another; fuse your phone to your PC for quick and easy multi-tasking or cast your smartphone screen to larger displays like tablets and televisions. More details to come later this year.

OPPO Reno11 Series 5G: What makes it The Portrait Expert?

In the dynamic world of mobile photography, the OPPO Reno11 Series 5G stands out as the latest star in the Philippines.

Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, the Reno10 Series 5G, which impressed us with its snazzy in-sensor zoom, the OPPO Reno11 Series 5G comes even better prepared to take on the title of The Portrait Expert. These latest Reno devices are set to amp up the game of capturing memories. But just how do they do it? Is it all hardware? Software? Let’s find out.

Quick specs check

Both devices carry a similar number of megapixels – a 50-megapixel main, 32-megapixel telephoto portrait camera, and 8-megapixel ultra-wide. The differences lie in their main camera sensors.

On the Pro variant, you’re still getting the high-performing Sony IMX890 with its large 1/1.56-inch sensor.

The base variant, while identical to its predecessor in many ways, does get a significant upgrade to its main camera in the form of a new 1/1.95-inch Sony LYT600 sensor – the little brother of the Sony LYT-900 found on OPPO Find X7 Ultra and part of Sony’s latest batch of mobile camera sensors.

But all you really need to know is that both devices have larger sensors this time around which, by now, we know leads to better captures because of the increased amount of light it can take in.

The OPPO Reno11 Pro 5G boasts a new 32-megapixel Telephoto Portrait camera touting a slightly larger f/2 aperture. The in-camera sensor has also been upgraded to a Sony IMX709, an improvement from last year.

OPPO says that with this new sensor, the Reno11 Series 5G cameras offer a 60% increase in light intake and 35% less noise than traditional sensors.

Behind the scenes

On the software side, we’ve got some interesting things to talk about. This year, OPPO injects a refined version of its HyperTone Image Engine  – the same engine found on the OPPO Find X6 Pro and the Find N3 series.

As the company’s flagship algorithm,  the HyperTone Image Engine is exclusive to the Pro variant and significantly enhances overall photo quality touching on important aspects like clarity of details, dynamic range, and color vibrancy and richness.

After you take a photo, the Reno11 works hard behind the scenes to merge multiple uncompressed or RAW images to create detailed, well-exposed, balanced photos. In addition to that, the algorithm applies AI-powered denoise and demosaic processing for a cleaner, artifact-free photo.

This algorithm also helps in maintaining details and quality when shooting up to 5x zoom.

Additionally, OPPO also has its Portrait Expert Engine which was developed with input and insights from portrait photographers to further refine the shooting experience and solidify the series’ claim of being the Portrait Expert.

OPPO’s Portrait Expert Engine takes care of and enhances quintessential portrait elements with features such as Facial Recognition + Subject/Scene Separation and Skin Color and Facial Feature Protection that work together with the HyperTone Imaging Engine to produce professional-looking portraits.

All of OPPO’s mobile photography technologies are wrapped up in its improved Pro-Grade Portrait Mode.

With its telephoto lenses housing ideal focal lengths for portraits (24mm for the Pro, 26mm for the base) combined with wide adjustable apertures, you can achieve a very natural-looking defocused, and compressed background that can perfectly frame a face.

You’re also getting those familiar OPPO filters, AI Beautification, and more features to help flourish your creativity

Selfies aren’t an afterthought

Despite having a more sophisticated camera setup, OPPO still made sure to put a capable front-facing shooter on the Reno11 Series 5G devices.

In its hole-punch notch lives a 32-megapixel camera on both devices. Again, the difference lies in their sensors. The OPPO Reno11 Pro 5G houses a Sony IMX709 – same as its rear telephoto lens, while the Reno11 5G works with an OmniVision OV32C.

Final thoughts

OPPO’s Reno series has always been about producing beautiful portraits. And with the technology we have today, it’s now more powerful than ever at doing just that.

Combining high-quality hardware with finely- and specifically-tuned software, there’s no denying that Portrait Photography is its bread and butter but the whole camera remains versatile enough that you’re not limited to just portraits. Whether it’s capturing nature and its landscapes, food and its small details, or those delightful pet expressions, the new Reno11 series 5G devices are a photography partner worth considering.

Price and promos

The OPPO Reno11 Series 5G, which includes the base and Pro variants, are both now available in the Philippines for PhP 24,999 and PhP 31,999 respectively.
