Globe celebrates GDay with music festival featuring international and local artists

The iconic 0917 is now more than just a mobile prefix for Globe subscribers. Over the past years, Globe has taken 0917 or September 17 as an opportunity to treat its customers to exciting experiences, rewards, and surprises. It is one way that Globe thanks its customers for their loyalty and support, a celebration that transforms ordinary days into something extraordinary.

This year, Globe is back with a bigger, larger-than-life 917 GDay celebration full of all things EXTRA for the whole month of September.

The focal point of this year’s 917 GDay celebrations is the G Music Fest, which will take place on September 17, 2022.

The G Music Fest is going to be an exciting whole-day festival that will feature the best talents in music, entertainment, culture and art. This year’s G Music Fest will be a hybrid event, with the live experience hosted at the Globe Circuit Event Grounds, Ayala Malls Circuit, Makati, and also streamed online through Globe VH Metaverse.

“The past couple of years have been incredibly challenging for everyone. Now that the world is slowly opening up and we can enjoy life together face-to-face, we’re excited to once again bring all the uplifting, lighthearted experiences that our loyal customers may have been missing and needing,” said Globe Marketing Head Pia Colby.

Seventeen local and international acts are slated to entertain live and online audiences, including Thai indie-pop, neo-soul singer-songwriter Phum Viphurit and Kpop act BugABoo, a six-member South Korean girl group, for whom the G Music Fest will be their first live Philippines performance.

Other confirmed musical acts are homegrown talents The Juans, Kaia, Matthaios, Unique, I Belong to the Zoo, JOEM, Lola Amour, Arthur MIguel, Paul Pablo and many more surprise guests.

As the G Music Fest is about extraordinary experiences, Globe has also invited celebrated contemporary artist-designer Leeroy New, to showcase his larger-than-life art installations.

New, who hails from General Santos City, has had his works showcased at, among others, the Singapore Biennale, Fukuoka Asian Art Triennial, and more recently at Palais de Tokyo, Biennale of Sydney, Honolulu Triennale, and Somerset House. He was also selected to build an installation for Burning Man 2020. Another artist who will share his talent is TRNZ, who ventures into the world of NFTs.

His past work has been exhibited in Hong Kong, Europe, South Korea, Jakarta, Los Angeles & New York, with an upcoming exhibition in Paris. TRNZ is the exclusive artist of Superordinary Friends, a collection of unique avatars each holding iconic food items. These limited edition illustrations combine quirky visual appeal with nuanced storytelling and will be launched in October.

Adding to the excitement, festival goers will also have the chance to own their first Non-Fungible Token (NFT) through Globe’s partnership with MetaverseGo!. The two brands have joined forces to create Gudi, a unique NFT in celebration of 917 #ExtraGDay and can be redeemed using Globe Rewards points.

Complementing the top-tier musical line-up and larger-than-life installations on the festival grounds is Globe Passion City where festival goers can use their Globe Rewards Points to enjoy fun & immersive Gaming (GGWP), Korean (Kmmunity Ph) and Anime (Sugoi Society) activities and merch collections.

Digital natives will also get to enjoy exciting activity booths and win vouchers from their favorite apps TikTok, Tinder, foodpanda, Kumu, and many others. Specially curated festival grub and pours, and exclusive 0917 merchandise are also available for guests to enjoy.

These are just some of the wonderful things one can expect at this year’s G Music Fest, and Globe still has a lot more surprises up its sleeve. Now in its third year, G Music Fest was born during the pandemic to inspire optimism and recognize every Globe customer’s continued patronage of the brand. Past performers include American pop rock band LANY, and proudly homegrown talents Kiana Valenciano, Ben & Ben, UDD, and SB19 among others.

“A lot of things have changed since the pandemic hit, but a lot of things have remained the same. We continue to be grateful to our customers and we’ll never tire of making wonderful, extraordinary experiences for them. We look forward to meeting everyone at the G Music Fest on 9-17, and we promise you an #ExtraGDayEveryday,” Colby added.

The G Music Fest Festival Pass pre-selling period is from September 2 – 9, 2022 and the regular sale period is on September 10 – 17, 2022. Festival Passes may be redeemed for just 15 Globe Rewards Points via the Globe One app or a special price of PhP 917.00 via Tickelo during the pre-selling period, and 30 Globe Rewards Points via the Globe One app or PhP 1,500.00 via Tickelo during the regular sale.
