Uniqlo and Daniel Arsham partner for new Pokémon collection

A new Pokémon collection is coming to Uniqlo but this time it’s in collaboration with visual artist, Daniel Arsham.

Daniel Arsham is a popular visual artist who has collaborated with a number of notable brands such as Dior and Adidas. He announced his latest project with Uniqlo through an Instagram video that showed fan-favorite Pokémon, Pikachu, stumbling upon a very Arsham-esque statue of itself.

In doing this collaboration, Arsham makes history as being the first visual artist to be ever granted access to the Pokémon Archive. He detailed in his Instagram post that he and his studio had been working with the Pokémon Company and its animators to create this teaser for the collection. The video takes on the original art style of the first-generation Pokémon anime and, as Arsham says, even uses the real voice of Pikachu.

Arsham’s previous posts have already shown his interest in Nintendo and Pokémon which would make this collaboration pretty natural. He even invites his followers to join him in Kanto which may hint that this collection will feature Pokemon’s first generation releases.

The official capsule collection will have its worldwide debut on April 24 and will be available for purchase on Uniqlo’s official website.
