Newly launched 13-inch Macbook Pro receives local pricing

Apple has now released the refreshed line for the smallest member of the Macbook Pro family, the 13-inch Macbook Pro.

There will be two main variations for the new 13-inch Macbook Pro. Both iterations receive valuable upgrades from their predecessors. Most notably, the boost in its performance thanks to the 10th Generation Intel Core processors, its upgraded storage, and RAM. Also, the lesser variant has two Thunderbolt 3 ports while its more expensive sibling will house four.

Consumers now have options to configure the 13-inch Macbook Pro to the Ice Lake-U series processors. Coupled with new Iris Plus graphics, the new models are said to deliver up to 80% faster graphics performance than previous generations. With this, users will also be able to connect to the Pro Display XDR monitor at a full 6K resolution.

Storage configurations offer 256GB as its base with the option to upgrade to 4TB SSD. Likewise, RAM offered will be at a standard 16GB but, again, allows an upgrade to 32GB for a faster performance.

But unlike the recently released 16-inch Macbook Pro, this baby Macbook Pro will not be receiving a screen size update as hoped by the community. It will, instead, remain at the same 13-inch screen. However, Apple is finally moving on from the previous iterations’ Butterfly switches by swapping it out of this model and replacing it with the new Magic Keyboard. This allows the use of the Touch Bar and Touch ID marks the return of the dedicated escape key.

Security is also a priority for Apple and has equipped the new 13-inch Macbook Pros with the latest Apple T2 security chip. This means that storage is encrypted and the boot is secured to ensure the device’s software has not been tampered with.

The most affordable 13-inch Macbook Pro, with 8th Generation Intel Core i5, 256GB of storage, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, and 8GB of RAM starts at PhP 74, 990 with additional options for upgrades. The more premium variant, with 10th Generation Intel Core i5, 512GB of storage, and 16GB RAM, starts at PhP 104, 990, also upgradeable.

realme TechLife robot vacuum quick review: Affordable and feature-filled

Following our recent exploration of the realme Pad, it’s time to dive into the expanding world of realme’s TechLife series. Beyond smartphones, this lineup now includes an array of innovative gadgets aimed at simplifying our daily routines. From fitness bands to hair dryers, realme surprises us yet again with not one but two vacuum cleaners — one handled and one robot.

Today, let’s zoom in on the latter – the realme TechLife Robot Vacuum.

Simple and discreet design

The realme TechLife Robot Vacuum boasts a symmetrical design with centrally positioned buttons and dual side brushes. This vacuum exudes modernity and sophistication with its minimalist approach, complemented by a glossy finish that, while prone to smudges, maintains a sleek appearance. A distinctive yellow accent adds a subtle brand touch without being overbearing.

With a height of just 10cm, the vacuum easily glides under most furniture, reaching areas that often go neglected because, let’s be honest, who doesn’t cut corners when cleaning to save time. realme has also incorporated collision-resistant tempered glass, enhancing the device’s durability. In our one-bedroom apartment, it did quite well to avoid the usual obstructions including walls, furniture, and even our pet cat.

The right amount of features for an easy clean

Equipped with 38 high-precision sensors, the realme TechLife Robot Vacuum is a powerhouse when it comes to efficient autonomous cleaning. Its LiDAR Smart Mapping and Navigation System sets it apart, providing unmatched accuracy and efficiency, even in dimly lit spaces. Apart from the initial setup, we didn’t have to do additional prep around the house, like moving or rearranging furniture, and the vacuum was still able to cover the entirety of our place.

Additionally, you can customize cleaning plans, adjust suction power, and create virtual barriers through the realme Link app. You can, for example, set restricted areas around the bathroom or the balcony so that the vacuum will automatically avoid these areas. We also had it scheduled to clean in the middle of the night while we were asleep so we woke up to a clean, dust-less floor.

As of writing, the additional mopping kit isn’t available yet but yes, the realme vacuum can be equipped with a water tank and mop pods so you can do an even deeper clean.

Quick first impressions

In our initial week with the realme TechLife Robot Vacuum, we’ve found it to be a significant time-saver, automating the cleaning process with ease. Its interactive nature, complete with vocal updates, adds a personal touch to the experience. The vacuum’s intelligent navigation and obstacle avoidance are impressive, showcasing the effectiveness of its 38 sensors. It confidently returns to its charging base when needed, avoiding collisions along the way.

Since we did just start using it, we haven’t had the expeince of cleaning or emptying out just yet though it should be fairly easy given you do it on a regular basis. Like most vacuums, robot or not, dirt and debris can get stuck. In our case, it was hair and fur that got caught on the rollers most of the time and we’d occasionally snip the tangled hairs just so it doesn’t pile up as we use the robot vacuum.

The TechLife robot vacuum comes with a 5800mAh battery which the company claims to offer about 300sqm of cleaning. Since we live in a space much smaller than that, running out of battery was never really a problem for us. It was able to do a full clean and go back home without any human intervention.

Final thoughts

The realme TechLife Robot Vacuum boasts all the essential cleaning features you might need at a pretty good price. It’s smart enough to clean on its own and is accurate too given its LiDar smart mapping tech. You’ve also got ease of use being app-connected plus it’s got a timeless design with a small footprint. Coupled with user-friendly features and pretty straightforward operation, the realme TechLife is a great affordable robot vacuum cleaner that will easily get the job done.
