This remarkable vehicle represents the second fully dedicated M car since the iconic BMW M1 in 1978.
At the heart of the BMW XM lies the M HYBRID drive system, delivering powerful performance and emission-free cruising. The drive system combines a combustion engine, generating up to 489 hp, with an electric drive system, providing up to 197 hp, resulting in an impressive overall output of 653 hp. The powertrain comprises a newly developed V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, boasting a 4.4-liter capacity and featuring a cross-bank exhaust manifold and an optimized oil separation process.
The electric motor, integrated into the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission, provides instant propulsive power when accelerating, contributing to the XM’s maximum overall torque of 800 Nm. The vehicle offers three operating modes, including an ELECTRIC setting, enabling zero local emissions while cruising at speeds of up to 140 km/h, covering a maximum distance of 82 – 88 km in the WLTP cycle. Sustainability is emphasized as the XM is presented as a plug-in hybrid electric model, demonstrating the brand’s commitment to a greener future.
