BYD ranks first globally in new energy vehicle sales

In a remarkable feat, BYD has once again emerged as the reigning champion in global New Energy Vehicle (NEV) sales, surpassing its 2023 target of three million vehicles. This achievement marks the second consecutive year that BYD has led the worldwide electric vehicle market.

The year 2023 also witnessed BYD clinching a position in the Top 10 for overall automotive sales globally, maintaining its stronghold on the Chinese domestic vehicle sales market against other car brands and manufacturers.

BYD’s total vehicle sales for 2023 reached an impressive 3,024,417, marking a substantial 61.9% increase from the previous year. Within this figure, approximately 1.6 million vehicles were Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV), while 1.4 million comprised Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV).

Notably, BYD dominated the global Battery Electric Vehicle sales in the fourth quarter of 2023, with 526,409 all-electric vehicles sold, solidifying its position as the undisputed BEV sales champion in that period.

Mobility Access Philippines Ventures, Inc. (MAPVI), the exclusive distributor of BYD cars in the Philippines, expressed satisfaction with BYD’s 2023 accomplishments. Antonio Zara III, president of MAPVI, stated, “We are delighted and proud to witness BYD, our partners in sustainable mobility, achieve its targets for 2023.” He emphasized the collaboration’s potential in contributing significantly to BYD’s future goals.

MAPVI, an Ayala Corporation subsidiary under AC Motors, aims to further BYD’s accessibility in the Philippines, aligning with the group’s Net-Zero Strategy and sustainability goals.

BYD’s international sales witnessed an exponential surge, skyrocketing by 334.2% in 2023, with 242,765 vehicles sold across more than 70 countries on six continents.
