Dodge reveals first-ever all-electric Charger Daytona

The electric muscle cars are coming and the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona EV is first out of the gate!

It’s been about two years since we first saw the company’s concept Charger Daytona SRT EV and even more since it announced its intention not to release gas-powered Chargers and Challengers.

But lo and behold, here comes the company’s first EV, and what a muscle EV it is — complete with a 400-volt system and 100.5KWh battery capable of pushing out 670 horsepower. It can achieve 0-60 in just 3.3 seconds with its V8 engine.

Two trims are available for the all-electric 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona — R/T and Scat Pack. “Powershot” will be standard on Charger Daytona models and can deliver an additional 40 horsepower for 15 on command.

  1. R/T: This trim offers a formidable 456 horsepower (496 with Power Shot) and 404 lb-ft of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in an impressive 4.7 seconds and boasts a range of up to 317 miles, making it perfect for thrilling rides without compromising on distance.
  2. Scat Pack: For those seeking the ultimate in performance, the Scat Pack trim delivers an astonishing 630 horsepower (670 with Power Shot) and 627 lb-ft of torque. With a lightning-fast acceleration of 0 to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds, this variant is designed to leave competitors in the dust. However, due to its higher power output, the Scat Pack trim offers a slightly reduced range of up to 260 miles.

And despite being an EV, Dodge says that it will make sure to keep the iconic sounds and driving dynamics that have long defined the Charger experience.

With that  400V propulsion system, the Charger EV offers rapid DC fast charging capabilities of up to 183kW for both variants, allowing the battery to charge from 5 to 80 percent in just 52.4 minutes when connected to a 175kW fast charger.

Opting for a 350kW charger further reduces charging time to a mere 32.5 minutes.

Additionally, Dodge has announced that all new Chargers will feature Direct Connection stage kits as standard, enabling drivers to enhance power beyond factory settings.

The R/T trim offers a Stage 1 upgrade kit, providing an extra 40 horsepower for a total of 496 horsepower, while the Scat Pack variant comes with a Stage 2 kit, delivering an impressive 80 additional horsepower, resulting in a total output of 670 horsepower.

But if you’re worried that the classic muscle car is lost to electrification, fear not as Dodge has also released a gas-powered variant.

The gas-powered variant of the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo “Hurricane” inline six-cylinder engine.

While specific details about horsepower and torque figures for the gas-powered variant are yet to be announced, Dodge assures that it will outperform its predecessors, including some of the V-8 variants.

The pricing for the  2024 Dodge Charger Daytona and its gas-powered variant has not been announced yet, however. Though we do know that the gas variant is scheduled to go on sale some time in 2025.

Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis mentioned that pricing for both the EV and gas-powered models will be revealed closer to their production. As of now, the exact cost of the Charger Daytona EV remains undisclosed, but rest assured, Dodge will provide this information as the launch date approaches.

Mercedes-Benz A180 AMG Line review: Attainable luxury vehicle!

When talking about premium luxury vehicles, certain names and brands come to mind – like BMW that we also recently reviewed, and of course, Mercedes-Benz.

And when we mention these names, let’s be honest – we sometimes imagine certain demographics like maybe, “Oh brands like Mercedes-Benz are just for really established people with tons of money to spare.”

And while there’s some truth in this, it’s not entirely the case since these brands –  particularly Mercedes-Benz – actually came out with a lineup that’s meant to be “aspirational vehicles” of sorts that even younger folks can look forward to achieving.

We’re talking about the A-Class and we have the Sedan model!
