The recently concluded Fujifilm X Summit 2024 brought about some exciting launches. The company finally introduced the newest X-series camera with the arrival of the Fujifilm X-T50. Among the mix is also the successor to Fujifilm’s ever-popular medium format camera and some new lenses. Read on to know exactly what was announced, launched, and showcased at the Fijfilm X Summit 2024.

The Announcements

Two New Lenses: XF 16-50mm & GF 500mm Lens

Fujifilm introduced two new lenses, each catering to different segments of photographers. The XF 16-50mm F2.8-4.8 R LM WR lens is designed for Fujifilm’s X-series cameras, offering a versatile zoom range and fast aperture for capturing a wide variety of subjects.

With weather-resistant construction and optical image stabilization, this lens is well-suited for outdoor and low-light shooting environments. The GF 500mm F5.6 R LM OIS WR lens is tailored for the GFX series, providing telephoto capabilities ideal for sports and wildlife photography.

With a focal length equivalent to 396mm in 35mm format, this lens delivers outstanding image quality and sharpness, even when shooting distant subjects. The GF500mmF5.6 R LM OIS WR is priced at US$ 3,499.

Your newest X: The Fujifilm X-T50

Much to nobody’s surprise as it is highly anticipated, Fujifilm finally unveils the X-T50 —  the latest addition to its esteemed X-series lineup

Equipped with a 40MP sensor and the latest X-Processor 5 image processing engine with AI capabilities, the X-T50 delivers stunning image quality with exceptional detail and color accuracy. The camera’s advanced autofocus system features 425 phase-detection points, ensuring fast and precise focusing, even in challenging shooting conditions.

This model also marks the first in the X-T series to incorporate in-body image stabilization (IBIS) with up to 7.0 stops, enhancing stability and reducing camera shake for sharper images. Additionally, the X-T50 features a new Film Simulation dial, similar to the instax Mini 99 dial, on the top plate, allowing users to easily access Fujifilm’s iconic film simulation modes. Additionally, the X-T50 offers 4K video recording capabilities at up to 30fps, providing videographers with high-quality footage for their projects.

The X-T50 body is priced at US$ 1,399, and the XC15-45mm kit is priced at US$ 1,499.

The XF16-50mm kit is priced at US$ 1,799 and is available in three colors: Vast Silver, Classic Black, and Graphite Gray. The XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8 R LM WR is priced at US$ 699.

A Medium-Format in the Mix: GFX 100S II

The GFX 100S II finally made its debut as the latest addition to Fujifilm’s medium format camera lineup.

Offering a smaller and more portable design compared to its predecessor, the GFX 100S II maintains the user-friendly experience that photographers love.

Equipped with a 102-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor, the GFX 100S II delivers breathtaking image quality with exceptional detail and clarity. The camera’s advanced autofocus system features 3.76 million phase-detection pixels, ensuring fast and accurate focusing, even in low-light conditions.

Additionally, the GFX 100S II offers 6.5-stop five-axis in-body image stabilization, allowing photographers to capture sharp images handheld with ease.

The GFX100S II is priced at US$ 4,999.

Everything Else

In addition to the product launches, Fujifilm announced two significant initiatives aimed at fostering creativity and collaboration within the photography community.

A new film simulation website has been launched and provides enthusiasts with a platform to explore Fujifilm’s iconic film simulation modes, inspiring creativity and experimentation. Furthermore, Fujifilm’s partnership with the World Press Photo Foundation underscores its commitment to supporting photojournalism and promoting content authenticity standards, empowering photographers to share impactful stories through visual storytelling.
