Honda celebrates the Civic’s 50th anniversary

Honda recently celebrated the birth of an icon 50 years ago. On July 12, 1972, the line-off ceremony for the Civic was held and this “car created for citizens and cities” raised the hopes of every Honda Associate.

Its 1972 debut earned an outstanding level of recognition, with the first of three consecutive Motor Fan Magazine Japan “Car of the Year” awards. The car was designed to satisfy markets around the world as it blends beautifully in city scenes, moving swiftly through busy traffic.

Notably, the Honda Civic would also be the first vehicle to meet the requirements of the 1970 U.S. Clean Air Act.  These made the Civic garner much love from its customers, the general public, and many car enthusiasts.

As the company celebrates this milestone with customers around the globe, here’s the 50th Anniversary video of the Honda Civic.

Fast forward today and Honda’s iconic sedan celebrates its 50th birthday, as it continues to carry its unique traits such as exceptional handling, impressive fuel efficiency, and that sleek, confident look. One of the highlights of the 11th generation Honda Civic is the addition of Honda SENSING which elevates the car’s safety to a whole new level.

Celebrating its golden year reminds us of how Honda’s iconic car evolved over several generations—50 years of serving that VTEC goodness and strong reliability, truly, the Civic nameplate serves as a true testament to the “Power of Dreams”.

How to watch video podcasts on Spotify

While not entirely new, Spotify has announced that it will be expanding its video podcasting features to more even more markets this year — including the Philippines.

According to the company, video podcasts will now be available to over 180 markets globally and is a move to showcase Spotify’s dedication and investment in the new video format.

To gain access, you’ll, most obviously, have to have the latest version of the app first.

Then you’ll need to head over to your settings and make sure that Audio Quality and Download Audio Only are turned off.

Scroll further down and turn on Canvas if you haven’t already.

And that’s it. You should be able to view videos when watching podcasts on Spotify. Simply tap on the podcast to bring up Canvas and the matching video. This feature also works on the desktop app and will launch a floating, adjustable window for the video.

To help creators adopt the video format, Spotify is also pushing its free podcast creation tool, Anchor. It acts as a one-stop shop where creators can record, edit, share, and even earn through their podcasts.

It should be noted, however, that while video podcasts are now supported, not all podcasts actually have videos yet. Internationally, there’s The Joe Rogan Experience and locally there’s Wake Up with Jim and Saab, for example.
