Xiaomi reveals Philippine price for mid-range Redmi Note 9S

Today, Xiaomi’s much-anticipated mid-range phone, the Redmi Note 9S, has now been globally unveiled and will soon be coming to the Philippines. The company has announced a local price of PhP 10,490 for the 4GB + 64GB variant and PhP 11,990 for the 6GB + 128GB variant.

Launched in India as the Redmi Note 9 Pro, this mid-ranger packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor which is specifically designed for mobile gaming. The octa-core CPU is paired with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage which is expandable up to 512GB via microSD card. It also has a 3.5mm headphone jack, IR blaster, and side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Redmi Note 9S

The Redmi Note 9S houses a 6.67-inch Full HD+ display (2400 x 1080 resolution) with support for HDR10 and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for added screen protection. It also boasts 91% screen-to-body ratio and a curved glass back for easy grip and added comfort.

Around the back, you’ll see that the phone is equipped with a quad-camera system consisting of a 48-megapixel main, 8-megapixel ultra-wide, 5-megapixel macro, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The front camera, located in the display’s tiny punch hole notch, is a 16-megapixel shooter capable of AI portraits, scene detection, and palm shutter.

Redmi Note 9S

Lastly, the Redmi 9S carries a large 5020mAh battery. Xiaomi says that its battery capacity allows the phone to last more than two days — though the company didn’t disclose as to what kind of usage that is but we’re assuming it’s your standard usage.

Additionally, it’s coupled with an 18W fast charging technology that’s supplied by the 22.5W type-C fast charger included in the box. Despite having such a large battery, the Redmi Note 9S is one of the slimmest smartphones in the market clocking in with a width of just 8.8mm.

Redmi Note 9S

The Redmi Note 9S will be available starting May 8 on Xiaomi’s official store on Lazada and will be available in three colors: Interstellar Grey, Aurora Blue, and Glacier White.

The company is celebrating the launch on Lazada by offering a promotion on the first day with a PhP 500 off the 4GB + 64GB variant. You can find more details on the phone and promotions on Xiaomi’s official Facebook page.

Gadgets for the new normal: Keeping the virus away

With more people getting vaccinated each day, it’s easy to become more complacent about keeping clean and safe.

It’s understandable, though, because people have been so restricted for months but there are still viruses out there, coronavirus or not, that can be just right around the corner.

As the old saying goes, prevention is better than cure. So here are a couple of devices that may help keep you and your surroundings clean and virus-free.

UV Disinfectants

With vaccinations rolling out, more and more people are heading back to work and leaving their houses.

Bringing along this UV light sterilizer bag can help keep all your personal belongings clean. This bag claims it can disinfect 99.9% of germs in just 3 minutes and can fit all kinds of items like phones, notebooks, wallets, keys, and more.

For a bigger space like your room or vehicle, a UV light like the Lasco 38W UV Sterilizer Disinfection Lamp with Ozone has a wider range of disinfection.

It sterilizes, deodorizes, and disinfects spaces of up to 40 sq. meters. Equipped with ozone sterilization, it can also reach areas that UV-C cannot normally access. The emitted ozone isn’t ideal for users with respiratory issues, though, but there is a non-ozone version as well.

There’s also a stronger 60W variant for users who want medical-grade sterilization of up to 75 square meters.

Wearables

As for wearables, there’s the LG Puricare Air Purifier Mask. Equipped with two HEPA filters, it traps an impressive amount of pollutants while promising to make it still easy to breathe.

Stocks are limited so better check out as soon as you see it available. But as an alternative, you could opt for the ible Airvida L1 Wearable Air Purifier. It’s a stylish and cool-looking device that also helps to filter the air around you.

Purifiers

As for purifiers, check out this air purifier with LCD display.

It can prevent PM2.5 dust, germs, bacteria, dust, allergens, cigarette smoke, odors, dust mites, fog, and even volcanic ash. Its coverage area is about 30 – 50 sq. meters.

Or you could try this Air Purifier by Beauty Star.

Health Monitoring Devices

One of the best things to invest in, these days, is a pulse oximeter. Using a device like this rechargeable Pulse Oximeter can help you monitor the saturation of oxygen in your blood.

If your readings fall below 95%, you’ll know that you may have to monitor yourself or go get yourself checked by a doctor. The device may also help reduce the risk of developing more serious ailments if detected and treated early.

You can also check this alternative Pulse Oximeter.

But these days, you also can get an all-in-one device with added health features like the realme Watch 2. It has 90 sports modes, a 24/7 health monitoring feature, and it boasts a 12-day long battery life. Review here.

Alternative

If you are not a fan of purifiers, here’s an alternative — the 1500W Nano Smoke Disinfection Machine is a fog disinfection machine that’s portable to be used in different parts of your home as well as in your vehicles.

Yes, we do have to adjust our way of living during this pandemic. But it’s a good thing that there are already a number of devices to choose from and make the transition to the new normal easier for all of us.
