Toyota Gazoo Racing celebrates exciting first leg for Vios Cup 2022

Thrill and excitement dominated the racetracks as Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) kicked off the 2022 season of the Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Vios Cup.

The Clark International Speedway (CIS) in Pampanga roared with heart-pounding cheer as veteran racers, celebrities, influencers, and members of media welcome motorsport enthusiasts back into the grandstands.

TMP President Mr. Atsuhiro Okamoto shared the excitement as he welcomed racers and fans at CIS. “The TGR Vios Cup is our way of celebrating our ever-growing racing community. We are thankful to our races and racing teams for showing the Gazoo Racing spirit, especially in these challenging times.” Mr. Okamoto said. “We hope this year’s season will continue to give the drive to race your ambition.”

Vios Cup celebrity veterans Troy Montero, Daniel Matsunaga, and Fabio Ide were back in the Circuit Championship using their One Make Race (OMR) Toyota Vios, perfect for the thrill and excitement of wheel-to-wheel racing.

Young and fresh faces joined them in driving full-throttle in their respective classes.

The Circuit Championship was classified into three categories; the Super Sporting, Sporting, and Promotional class, with a total of 27 racers participating across all three categories.

The winners for the Super Sporting class were John Dizon of Obengers Team, Inigo Anton of Toyota North Edsa-Obengers Team, and Darryl de Leon of Toyota Marilao Obengers Team; meanwhile, Celebrity Troy Montero, from Toyota Gazoo Racing PH,  won the Sporting class followed by Royce Sarmiento of RMS Cars Racing Team and Joaquin Garrido of Toyota Otis — Obengers Racing Team. He was joined by Gino Quillamor as the champion in the Influencer Sporting Class. For the media class, Autoindustriya’s Jan Lacuna won the Sporting Class and Pablo Salapantan of YugaAuto took the trophy for the Promotional Class.

This year, the excitement was not limited to veteran and skilled racers. Toyota Gazoo Racing Gran Turismo (GR GT) Cup champions were also there to take their e-racing skills from the screen to the tracks. After joining the Toyota Gazoo Racing Academy, these champions participated in the Autocross event.

I’ve always loved racing and it’s such a thrilling experience for me to finally feel the rush of racing first-hand.” Russel Reyes, the winner of the GT Cup Autocross Challenge, said. “And it’s an even more thrilling experience to win! Get back to the groove with the 2021 Volkswagen Santana

It’s the year for you to “re-emerge”, figuratively and literally. After months of careful sheltering, and weathering whatever challenges 2020 could dish out, a bright and full year ahead is spread out for you and your young family. It’s time to come out and step back into the groove, and get back on track to what you’ve been always intending to do—buy your first Volkswagen and get to where you’ve always wanted—and needed—to be in.

There’s a Volkswagen vehicle that perfectly matches your upbeat mood—a German-engineered subcompact sedan that exudes the same spirit of hopeful, independent youth that’s more than ready to take on grown-up responsibilities. Its name is Santana, and for 2021, there’s an extra spring to its step.

The 2021 Santana packs the features and amenities of previous Santana models into an updated edition of the 180 MPI AT S and the 180 MPI AT SE variants. The 1.5-liter engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and is capable of generating maximum power of 111 PS and 145 Nm of torque.

Equipped with BlueMotion technology, it results in frugal fuel consumption that ensures your drives—whether they be those long, out-of-towners or those quick in-city trips—will not only give you and your family driving and riding comfort but will also guarantee your financial peace of mind.

The 2021 Santana has been specially crafted to be more alluring in order to make Filipinos fall in love with it all over again. It has one of the longest wheelbases in its class for a stable ride and enhanced comfort. Automatic headlights with Leaving Home and Coming Home function, front fog lamps, intermittent control wipers with rain sensor, and a sunroof are also available for the 2021 Santana 180 MPI AT SE.

The renewed interiors of the 2021 Santana will make you both excited and relaxed. The essential power features are included in the S variant, while additional specs are available for the SE.

These include leather and fabric seat material, a front center armrest with height adjustment, front and rear door pockets with bottle holder, front and rear reading lights, and a multifunction steering wheel with cruise control. Not to mention the SE’s touchscreen infotainment system with radio, USB, Bluetooth, and 6 speakers. An optional 7-inch infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is also available as a dealer option.

Apart from having dual front airbags, ESP, ABS, and ASR standard in the 2021 Santana 180 MPI AT S, additional features are also equipped in the SE variant including driver and front passenger-side airbags and rear parking distance control. Combine these safety features with a comprehensive 3-year or 100,000 km-warranty coverage (whichever comes first), yearly preventive maintenance service or every 10,000 kilometers (whichever comes first), and 24/7 Emergency Roadside Assistance, the 2021 Santana provides compelling reasons for Filipinos to experience the motoring lifestyle that only Volkswagen can offer.

Choosing your 2021 Santana has never been easier. Offered in three body colors: Polar White, Reflex Silver, and Deep Black and at very competitive prices of PhP 755,000 for the 2021 Santana 180 MPI AT S, and PhP 898,000 for the 2021 Santana 180 MPI AT SE, your first Volkswagen will truly make your German driving experience memorable.
