OPPO Ace 2’s wireless charging is really fast

Smartphone maker OPPO has finally embraced wireless charging and for its first phone that carries such technology, the Ace 2 has already made it with the top players.

The phone boasts its new AirVOOC tech that makes wireless charging possible. With its dedicated dock and charger, it’s capable of receiving 40W of voltage so fully charging the Ace 2 should be faster. For comparison, Huawei’s P40 Pro has the same 40W maximum, OnePlus at 30W, and Apple at 7.5W. With these numbers, you know that the company really wanted to make its presence known for wireless charging.

Even its wired charging has impressive numbers. When charged with its included cable and adapter, its 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 is able to charge the phone quickly for shorter waiting periods.

In terms of design, it carries a 6.55-inch Full HD+ OLED display with 90Hz refresh rate, there’s an in-display fingerprint scanner for security, and a 16-megapixel hole-punch selfie shooter on the upper left corner of the screen.

Meanwhile, a quad-camera setup is at the back which is headlined by the main 48-megapixel shooter, 8-megapixel ultra-wide, 2-megapixel portrait, and a depth sensor. It will come in Moon Rock Ash and Fantasy Purple colors.

Powering the phone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 with RAM choices between 8GB and 12GB. One can also choose between 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. As for battery, its 4000mAh capacity features reverse wireless charging so you can share power to other compatible devices.

Here are the price points for OPPO Ace 2 with availability in China kicking off this April 20.

realme Buds Air Pro unboxing and first impressions

It’s already been a very good and very busy year for realme and but it seems like the company isn’t done yet. Just in time for the holidays, realme releases their latest TWS offering, the realme Buds Air Pro. As the “Pro” variant suggests, this new device is the company’s most premium audio offering so far. It’s equipped with a whole bunch of features including active noise cancellation, an often sought after feature for TWS earphones.

We were able to get our hands on pair of these TWS earphones and are gearing up for a full review that’s coming soon. But if you’re excited to get a closer look at the realme realme Buds Air Pro, keep reading on and find out our first thoughts on the device as well.

As with a lot of realme products, the device is packed in the company’s signature yellow box with the product’s name and image front and center. Lifting the cover reveals an insert with the realme logo and a quote by Hermes designer, José Lévy, who is also responsible for the design of the realme Buds Q.

Using the notch on top, we lift the insert and find a user guide hiding inside. Putting that aside, we find a single-page quick guide that shows basic conrols and pairing instructions that sits atop the realme Buds Air Pro. There’s also a tiny box on the bottom with “Noise Off. Game On.” printed on the front that obviously references the active noise canceling feature of this device. Inside this little box, we find the 3 extra pairs of ear tips in varying sizes and a short, yellow USB Type-C cable for charging.

Now onto the device itself, the realme Buds Air Pro sits in a little well in the center with a tiny indent on the side so you can easily take it out. Wrapped around the charging case is a thin plastic membrane with instructions on how to activate pairing mode.

The realmbe Buds Air Pro is light with the charging case weighing just 39.5g and each bud at just 5g. The case comes in a glossy finish with the realme logo upfront, an indicator light just above it, and a physical button on the right of the device to trigger pairing. Around the back is a silver-colored hinge while the Type-C charging port can be found on the bottom. Our unit comes in the Soul White color but the device also comes in Rock Black.

The case’s magnetic lid is really easy to flip open and can even be done with one hand. With the lid open, the realme Buds Air Pro can be seen peeking out of the case. They’re magnetically attached to the bottom of the case and the magnets are strong enough so the earphones won’t slip out of its case accidentally. Additionally, opening the case immediately prompted the auto-pair feature on our realme X3 SuperZoom which was really convenient.

The earphones also come in a glossy finish like its case and sport a more chunky, rounded shape for the head compared to the other devices in the Buds Air series. There are two microphones visible, one on its stem and one just under the ear tip. It also has a metal tip on the end of its stem where the magnets of the charging case attach. As mentioned earlier, each bud only weighs 5g and can barely be felt when worn. There are aslo capacitive touch buttons on both buds which means you can control the device with either single, double, or triple taps on its’ surface. Tap functions can be programmed using the realme Link app on your phone.

Lastly, realme says that the realme Buds Air Pro’s earbuds can provide up to 5 hours playback time with noise cancellation turned on. With the charging case, the company claims the device can last up to 20 hours with noise cancellation on and up to 25 hours with noise cancellation off. As for charging, realme says charging for just 10 minutes can provide users up to 3 hours playback.

The realme Buds Air Pro offers a lot more features including transparency mode, dual-mic noise cancellation for calls, smart wear detection, and more.
