realme C15: Unboxing and hands-on
If you think you’ve been hearing a lot from affordable smartphone maker, realme, you’re not alone. The brand has been on a roll, releasing new phones, and wearables, left and right, and even hosting a month-long realme Fan Fest celebration. And now, the company is yet again introducing another new phone to the Philippine market, the realme C15. The C15 is unique in the sense that it pairs a large-capacity 6000mAh battery with an 18W fast charger. Not only that but 1000 units will come in limited edition Philippines-exclusive doodle boxes designed by Vince Ricohermoso, the winner of realme’s recent doodle box challenge. And we were able to get our hands on of them! Let’s begin the unboxing. As we just mentioned, our C15 comes in one of the exclusive special edition boxes. The design is just charming and filled with a bunch of pop culture references that are just really fun to point out. After fully appreciating the box’s design, we open it to reveal the familiar yellow packet welcoming you to the realme family. In it, we have the sim ejector tool, information guide, warranty papers, and, for those who purchased the limited edition box, a special message from the company. Underneath all that, we have the C15 wrapped in plastic which we will, of course, talk about in just a little bit. Digging deeper, we find the 18W charger and the accompanying micro USB cable. And that’s all we have for what’s inside the box. Let’s move on to the actual unit. Taking out the protective plastic reveals the realme C15. Our unit comes in a beautiful Marine Blue color but it’s also available in Seagull Silver. The phone itself has some heft and thickness to it which may be due to its large-capacity battery. It has a nice textured matte finish that’s great at repelling fingerprints. The geometric design on the back is not as flashy as other members in the realme family but it’s simple, neat, and classy. The realme C15 houses a 6.5-inch screen with a mini-drop notch. Bezels are pretty thin with a screen-to-body ratio of 88.7%. On the right side of the phone, we have the volume rocker and power button while on the left sit the dual SIM card and MicroSD tray. Down below, we have the micro USB port for charging, 3.5mm headphone jack, and speakers. Flip the phone around and you’re greeted with a fingerprint reader in the center and a square camera module on the top right side housing the device’s quad-camera setup. The realme C15 is equipped with a 13-megapixel main camera, 8-megapixel wide-angle camera, 2-megapixel black and white camera, and 2-megapixel depth sensor. Around the front, inside the mini-drop notch, is an 8-megapixel selfie camera. Powering the C15 on the inside is a MediaTek HelIo G35 processor matched with up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. As mentioned earlier, the device packs a large 6000mAh battery with support for 18W Quick-Charge. Additionally, it also supports 10W reverse charging to power up other devices. Pricing and pre-order details for the realme C15 have yet to be announced but the official live stream launch will be happening later this week on August 20, 6PM.
