The Huami Amazfit X is one detailed fitness tracker

Initially seen from last year’s IFA, Xiaomi-backed company, Huami, has introduced its newest addition to the popular Amazfit brand of wearables.

The Amazfit X features a large 2.07-inch curved screen and was designed to curve at a precise 92 degrees to rest well on the user’s wrist. With its spacious real estate, the watch offers more room to navigate and control apps, while lessening the need to scroll. It should also make reading through notifications, messages, and other information easier.

That being said, the Amazfit X does go beyond the usual capabilities of a mere fitness band and categorizes itself as a smartwatch. It supports push notifications for SMS, emails, calendars, and much more. It even supports a variety of apps in addition to wireless control for music via Bluetooth.

Huami explains that creating the curved glass screen involved a very detailed process. The material was heated to a specific temperature of 700-degrees Celcius before it went through a 6-step bending process to achieve that super arc. Coupled with a titanium alloy body, the Amazfit X also boasts durability and strength as well as corrosion resistance. It’s also been fitted with 3D Corning Gorilla Glass and an anti-fingerprint coating.

The button-free construction makes for a minimalist, straightforward design that exudes a premium feel. To control certain settings, the Amazfit X is equipped with pressure buttons instead. The watch also uses natural vibrations alongside these hidden buttons to offer a sense of feedback for the user.

It features a 24/7 heart rate tracker that utilizes Huami’s own BioTracker PPG optical sensor to further enhance precision. It will also categorize the user’s heart rate into different zones depending on its reading.

Additionally, the Amazfit X will also be able to detect the user’s stress levels throughout the day by interpreting data taken by the heart rate monitor. It’s also bringing in PAI (Personal Activity Intelligence) Health for those who are more meticulous about the way they track their stats.

This wearable tracker is also able to measure oxygen levels and saturation in blood with the onboard SpO2 sensor. It has additional features such as GPS + GLONASS, 6-axis IMU, and a 5ATM water resistance.

Housing a 200mAh battery, the Amazfit X prides itself in providing 7 days of full functionality on a single charge. It also has 9 built-in sports modes such as outdoor running, walking indoor and outdoor, cycling, swimming, and much more. Wrist straps are also replaceable and the device charges through a magnetic charging stand.

The new Amazfit X smartwatch is now available for pre-order through the crowdfunding site, Indiegogo for US$ 149 (actual retail price will be at US$ 329). Shipping is estimated to start in August 2020.
